Ovulation occurs 14 days prior to menses. So calculate the date and do regular sex around that period. Both of you should have healthy diet and stress free life for proper metabolism of your body. If all test of your wife is okay you should get do your semen analysis also.

Hello- pregnancy depends upon the health of both the partners. If your tests are normal then go for the semen analysis of your husband, it might be possible that your pregnancy is delayed by the health problems of your partner.

FROZEN SHOULDER

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Delhi
FROZEN SHOULDER
FROZEN SHOULDER SYNDROME
(Syn. Periarthritis Shoulder, Adhesive Capsulitis)
Frozen Shoulder Syndrome usually presents as a limitation of shoulder movements associated with pain. It usually presents around the age of 40 years equally affecting males and females. Diabetic and obese people are more prone to it. Bilateral frozen Shoulder is almost always found in Diabetics. It usually starts with minor trauma, often ignored by the patient. The patient often claims it to have insidious, spontaneous onset.
On many occasions the patient may have been confined to bed rest for some medical problem, does not do any shoulder movements, and hence gradually slips into shoulder stiffness. Cervical Spondylosis when causes pain in neck and around shoulder, may initiate and precipitate frozen shoulder.
Treatment is simple.
Diabetes must be ruled out in all the patients and treated well in those who are suffering from it.
No treatment will ever succeed unless diabetes is controlled.
X-ray should be done to rule out other associated disorders
E.g. Koch’s, metastatic deposits
Patient needs anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) to control the inflammatory process going on inside.
Muscle relaxants are needed to relieve the spasm of the muscles. They facilitate the shoulder movements.
Neurotropics, antioxidants and omega three fatty acids are needed to improve the general metabolism and health of the patient. They also potentiate the analgesic effect of NASAIDS.
Sometimes manipulation of the shoulder under General Anaesthesia may have to be undertaken.
With advancement of surgical technology, arthroscopic fibrinolysis of the shoulder joint is undertaken with good results.
In the end, it is the active physiotherapy that is the sheet anchor of treatment, until the patient makes a wilful determined effort no treatment will succeed.

Infertility

DGO
Gynaecologist, Pune
It's been 35 years since the world's first test-tube baby was born and since then, around 5 million births have taken place through assisted reproductive procedure such as in vitro fertilisation (ivf).

Still there are many misconceptions related to infertility and ivf. Here are some myths and facts.

Myth: infertility is primarily a female problem
Fact: both men and women may have infertility problems: about 15 percent of such cases are related to men, 40 percent to women and 30 percent to problems in both partners. Unidentified causes account for 15 percent of the cases.

Myth: alternative medicines can improve fertility
Fact: there is no scientific evidence to support this belief and using such types of medicines is a waste of time.

Myth: age is not a big factor in infertility
Fact: age has a direct correlation to women's egg quality and quantity. By the age of 35, the risk of infertility rises significantly as the woman's egg reserve starts declining after that age. Age 18 to 29 are the most fertile years of a woman's life.
{mosimage}

Myth: ivf has a 100 percent success rate
Fact: success rate for ivf depends on a number of factors such as the woman's age, cause of infertility, the institution where the procedure is done and other biological and hormonal conditions. The process results in successful pregnancies in 40 to 50 percent cases. In three consecutive cycles, success rate goes up to 80 to 90 percent.

Myth: it is a painful procedure
Fact: multiple injections used in the treatment can cause discomfort but it isn't painful. The process of egg collection is done under general anaesthesia and the embryo transfer is a painless process.

Myth: babies born via ivf are at risk of birth defects and abnormalities
Fact: the chance of abnormality is slightly higher as compared to the babies conceived through sexual intercourse. Babies born via ivf are 1.3 times more likely to be born with birth defect.

Myth: ivf always results in" multiple pregnancy"; the woman will have twins or triplets
Fact: the chances of" multiple pregnancy" may be lessened by reducing the number of embryos transferred, especially in young women.

Myth: if the ivf process is unsuccessful, it is the end of the road for the couple trying to have a baby
Fact: there are many couples who have conceived naturally or with intrauterine insemination (iui) even after going through an unsuccessful ivf procedure.

Myth: ivf is too expensive
Fact: most ivf cycles cost from rs 1 to rs 1.3 lakh (including medicines) but the positive outcome of the process is more precious.

1 year is short time. You can still wait for 1 more year with having intercourse around ovulation day. Ovulation happens only on1 day of each cycle. In a woman with regular cycles of 28 days it happens around 14 th day. If getting impatient both of you meet Gynaecologist or infertility specialist.

MD - Homeopathy

I am 4thmonth of pregnant ultrasound scan is good but threeplemark test is negative why like that.
A triple marker screen test takes a sample of blood and detects the levels of AFP, HCG, and estroil in it. Abnormal levels of these substances may indicate the presence of: Down syndrome Edwards syndrome neural tube defects (such as spina bifida and anencephaly). multiple infants an improper timeline (the pregnancy is further along or not as far along as once thought) So it is normal & less chances of having genetic disorders in the baby if this test is negative

Polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos) is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age. Infertility is one of the most common pcos symptoms. Polycystic ovary syndrome causes irregular menstrual cycles, excessive body or facial hair and polycystic ovaries as its main symptoms. Polycystic means" many cysts" and pcos often causes clusters of small, pearl-sized cysts in the ovaries. The cysts are fluid-filled and contain immature eggs. Homoeopathic treatment cures pcos without side effects and normalize menstrual cycle.

As you r overweight, menses can be delayed by hormonal changes. If you r married and expecting pregnancy you should keep having pregnancy test doen every week till you get menses. You can wait till 3 months to get menses before you take regesterone to get menses. If you r pregnant, you will never get menses with regesterone and if you r not pregnant then definitely you will get menses within 7 days of stopping regesterone.

Heavy Bleeding During Menses - How Can You Treat it?

MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Noida
Heavy Bleeding During Menses - How Can You Treat it?

Menstruation is the monthly discharge of blood from the vagina, which lasts for about 5 to 6 days. It is the shedding of the inner lining of the uterus, when pregnancy does not occur after the release of egg from the ovary. Menstrual periods are generally often accompanied by painful cramps in the lower abdomen, heavy bleeding, weakness, water retention, irritability and malaise.

What is Menorrhagia?

Very heavy or prolonged periods are medically termed as menorrhagia. It is abnormally heavy bleeding if there is a requirement to change sanitary napkins or tampons several times within a very short span of time. Passing large blood clots, night time bleeding, bleeding for over 7 -8 days, are other symptoms that one might be suffering from menorrhagia.

Common Causes Behind It

  1. Menorrhagia is mostly a cause of hormonal imbalances, particularly in the levels of estrogens and progesterone.

  2. Fibroids, cysts or polyps in the organs of the reproductive system, which includes the uterus, ovaries or fallopian tubes.

  3. History of miscarriage or failed pregnancies.

  4. Use of contraceptives

How can you treat heavy bleeding during menses

  1. Change of diet: You must include more minerals, iron, magnesium and calcium in your diet. Your diet must comprise a lot of green vegetables, fresh fruits and dairy products.

  2. Some non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen may be prescribed to reduce the blood loss.

  3. Certain hormonal therapies to regulate the hormonal imbalances and menstrual irregularities.

  4. Home remedies such as intake of certain herbs, ginger and coriander seeds help to control heavy bleeding.

  5. Increasing magnesium intake to balance out levels of oestrogen.

  6. It is best to stick to natural remedies, as it generally does not create complications in other bodily functions.

If the bleeding cannot be controlled even after a change of diet and home remedies, you must consult the gynaecologist as soon as possible. Heavy bleeding is a serious problem, especially if accompanied by dizziness, fluctuations in the blood pressure, nausea and weight loss. Severe cramps and constant bleeding can hinder daily routine, therefore, the earlier you receive medical attention, the quicker you will get relief.

Yes egg size/ maturation does matter in getting pregnant. Eggs size increases with hormone production in body. It is known that the follicle has to reach an average diameter of a minimum of 15 mm for the egg within to be mature. There are many factors that influence the health of the egg and, thus, a woman’s ability to conceive. Some of these factors are nutrition, environmental factors, or lifestyle. To grow healthy eggs, good oxygenation and blood circulation are necessary.Drinking plenty of water and exercising regularly. Activity and good hydration will stimulate circulation and improve egg health. Good mood is of utmost importance, try to stay away from stress and relax as much as possible.
