Dear librate users pain ankles b/l needs to be seen from diagnosis perspective if its continuing, thus persistent pain > 1-2 months speaks about general Osteoarthritic changes, at times this may be limited to tendonitis or tender muscle attachment ,in some cases gouty arthritis presents with swelling and painful ankle, it may involve thumb or knees too. Taking homeopathy is good but diagnosis in medical terms will help your doctor to chart and educate you regarding dos and fonts, dietary modulation which will ensure your speedy and confident recovery, for any other information kindly write to me. Your age, associated medical illness like thyroid disturbances, diabetes,bp etc, also reports with free ca, let,ash t3 t4 / ser uric acid, cbc, if required digital X-ray b/l ankles will clinch the diagnosis. Hope this will help you to take better guidance.

I had a corn in between my toe from past 4-5 months. There is a little bit of pain when ever pressure is applied on it. I have also used corn cap. After removing the cap a white dead skin comes around the corn. I removed the white skin but still there is no effect the corn won't go away. What should I do rather than taking an operation?

Get treated with Ultrasonic therapy which would directly heal the corns which causes the pain in majority of the cases. Along with ultrasonic therapy, shortwave diathermy also can be given. Simultaneously it is better to wear MCR chappals (micro cellular rubber) which will help to transfer the weight evenly in the feet so that the weight will be completely felt in the heel area.

What medications are best for the treatment of asthma? what are their side effects?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Faridabad
1.Take 11 guava leaves, 11 black pepper, 1 cup milk and one cup water. Put all of them in pot and boil it well, when it reduced to one cup, drink in empty stomach. Take this daily for at least six months or a year. 2.Boil cumin seeds in water and inhale the steam. It helps dilate the bronchial passage. 3.Take 5 gm of ginger, black pepper, cardamom, clove, cinnamon, turmeric and 30 gm of sugar. Grind the mix to a powder. Take half to one teaspoonful and mix it nicely with honey. Take it twice a day 4.Pulses like old rice (rice which is stored for at least one year is called old), wheat, barley, kulattha, mung beans, arhar beans, etc . should be consumed. 5.Honey, warm drinks like herbal teas, spice teas are also okay. 6.Sprouts, nuts and seeds can be taken in moderate amount. 7.The heavy foods and those which make ama should be avoided. This mainly includes milk products like cheese, curd, butter milk, creams, and banana, etc. 8.Oily, greasy and fried foods which are difficult to digest should be avoided. 9.White flour and white sugar products should be avoided. 10.In addition, try to avoid the cold foods, cold drinks and other refrigerated things. 11.Avoid excessive or physically demanding exercise. I want to get rid of my throat cough, I am being suffering from it from 3 months.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops.

You seem to be having sinusitis, may be allergic or infective. Take steam inhalation twice a day, nasal decongestant, antibiotics if infection is there eg. Purulent sputum and do breathing exercises.

My anti-hbs value is 98.61 mlu/mlI got vaccinated 15 years back. Should I take a booster dose? My wife is hepatitis b positive.

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
1. Hepatitis b vaccine normally gives protection for 15-20 years. 2. Your anti hbs level is good and you are safe, but since your wife is suffering from hepatitis b, you may take one booster dose after consulting gastro enterologist/hepatologist.

Symptoms Of Heart Attack!

MBBS, Master of Surgery - General Surgery, Magistrar Chirurgiae (Cardio-Thoracic Surgery)
Cardiologist, Faridabad
Symptoms Of Heart Attack!

Heart attack or myocardial infarction mostly occurs when the flow of blood to the heart is blocked due to one or more reasons. The most prominent reason could be high fat or cholesterol that results in plaque build up in the coronary artery. The restricted blood flow has the potential to damage or even destroy the heart muscle. Some of the symptoms that can be helpful when it comes to the identification of a heart attack are listed below.

1. Discomfort in the Chest - Your chest may feel tight and pressured when you are about to be hit by a heart attack. Pain or discomfort in the chest is usually central typically felt behind the sternum, the central bone of chest. It may not be pain, it may be only discomfort, it may only be in upper part of tummy, very commonly confused with a gas problem. It is often accompanied by a painful sensation in the chest or arms. If a chest pain lasts more than 15-20 min it can be assumed to be a heart attack. This aching sensation may even spread to your back, neck or jaw.

2. Feeling of inconvenience - Often before the heart attack, the person may have feelings of nausea, ingestion, abdominal pain or a heartburn.

3. Breathing problems - Another prominent symptom of heart attack is shortness of breath which is accompanied by cold sweat and fatigue.

Emergency Measure:

If you think you are getting a heart attack, you should immediately take one tablet of Aspirin (preferably chew aspirin if possible), 4 tablets of a drug called Clopidogrel, and one tablet of Atorvastatin 80 mg and rush to the nearest possible medical facility as time is very important in the treatment of an acute heart attack. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cardiologist.
