Hi, your serum creatinine is normal, but bun is slightly increased. The main causes of an increase in bun are: high protein diet, decrease in glomerular filtration rate (gfr) (suggestive of renal failure) and in blood volume (hypovolemia), congestive heart failure, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, fever and increased catabolism. Hypothyroidism can cause both decreased gfr and hypovolemia, however bun-to-creatinine ratio has been found to be lowered in hypothyroidism and raised in hyperthyroidism. Blood urea nitrogen, or bun, is the waste by-product of metabolized protein. High bun levels generally indicate that your kidneys are not functioning properly or you may have underlying health problems related to your cardiovascular system. In some cases, high bun levels are acute and easily resolved with dietary changes. Management: -drink plenty of fluids daily to stay hydrated. -eat a low-protein diet. If your kidneys are unable to filter protein properly, reduce your protein intake to lower your bun levels. High-protein foods include red meat, poultry, fish and dairy. Beans, nuts and grains have moderate amounts of protein, and fruits generally have no protein. -cope with stress and manage your blood pressure. In some cases, high bun levels occur from excess stress or acute high blood pressure. Get a blood pressure check and monitor it regularly. (certain medications like corticosteroids can increase bun levels. Consult your physician).

I am suffering from hair loss and scalp problem. There is any good treatment for that?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

I am suffering from hair loss and scalp problem. There is any good treatment for that?
Hello Lybrate user Thanks for the question in Lybrate. According to Ayurveda hairfall is named as khalithya, caused by aggravated pitta dosha. Excess of Pitta dosha in the body is increased by hot climatic conditions, excessive intake of spicy, salty and sour food, hot and sharp food, tea, coffee, alcohol, meats and excessive smoking. Eating too much fried, oily, greasy, and acidic foods also aggravates Pitta. Pitta balancing herb (Eg: Shatavari —Asparagus) effective in treating hair fall. There are a number of other causes for hair fall like acute illness, scalp infection like dandruff, high stress, and thyroid imbalance, certain drugs, sudden weight loss and high fever. Try to rule out the cause by few investigations. Best tips to prevent hair loss Massage scalp weekly twice with Durdurpatradi taila. Do yoga and meditations as these are stress buster and mood elevator Adequate amount of water is essential for proper growth of hair One shouldn’t comb when the hair is wet Sound sleep for 7-8 hours is utmost important Avoid beverages like alcohol, coffee, excessive smoking Give more weightage to seasonal fruits and green vegetables Iron rich and adequate protein diet is good for hair loss The juice of carrot, lettuce is good for hair growth Avoid Pitta aggravating foods like spicy, fried and oily foods Applying the juice of coriander on the scalp proves very fruitful in preventing of hair loss. Apply hair pack of amla, Neem powder with warm water for 40 mins weekly twice before head shower. Rx Bringamalaka taila E/a weekly twice night application Amla bringaraj shampoo For cleansing Tricup cap 1_0_1a/f for 30 days.

Suffering with sexual dysfunction Hear is the solution

Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine (H.M.D.)
Homeopath, Belgaum
Suffering with sexual dysfunction Hear is the solution
Sexual dysfunction refers to a problem during any phase of the sexual response cycle that prevents the individual or couple from experiencing satisfaction from the sexual activity. The sexual response cycle has four phases: excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution.

Causes of sexual dysfunction
Physical causes Many physical and/or medical conditions can cause problems with sexual function. These conditions include diabetes, heart and vascular disease, neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances, chronic diseases such as kidney or liver failure, and alcoholism and drug abuse. In addition, the side effects of certain medications, including some antidepressants drugs, can affect sexual desire and function. Psychological causes These include work-related stress and anxiety, concern about sexual performance, marital or relationship problems, depression, feelings of guilt, and the effects of a past sexual trauma.

The most common problems related to sexual dysfunction in men include ejaculation disorders, erectile dysfunction and inhibited sexual desire.

Ejaculation disorders
There are different types of ejaculation disorders, including:

Premature ejaculation
This refers to ejaculation that occurs before or soon after penetration.

Inhibited or retarded ejaculation
This is when ejaculation does not occur.

Retrograde ejaculation
This occurs when, at orgasm, the ejaculate is forced back into the bladder rather than through the urethra and out the end of the penis. In some cases, premature and inhibited ejaculation are caused by psychological factors, including a strict religious background that causes the person to view sex as sinful, a lack of attraction for a partner and past traumatic events . Premature ejaculation, the most common form of sexual dysfunction in men, often is due to performance anxiety during sex. However, organic causes are sometimes present. Certain drugs, including some anti-depressants, may impair ejaculation, as can nerve damage to the spinal cord or back. Retrograde ejaculation is most common in males with diabetes who suffer from diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage). This is due to problems with the nerves in the bladder and the bladder neck that allow the ejaculate to flow backward. In other men, retrograde ejaculation occurs after operations on the bladder neck or prostate, or after certain abdominal operations. In addition, certain medications, particularly those used to treat mood disorders, may cause problems with ejaculation.

Erectile dysfunction
Also known as impotence, erectile dysfunction is defined as the inability to attain and/or maintain an erection suitable for intercourse. Causes of erectile dysfunction include diseases affecting blood flow, such as atherosclerosis nerve disorders; psychological factors such as stress, depression and performance anxiety; and injury to the penis. Chronic illness, certain medications and a condition called Peyronie’s disease (scar tissue in the penis) also can cause erectile dysfunction.

Inhibited sexual desire (reduced libido)
Inhibited desire, or loss of libido, refers to a decrease in desire for or interest in sexual activity. Reduced libido can result from physical or psychological factors. It has been associated with low levels of the hormone testosterone. It also may be caused by psychological problems, such as anxiety and depression; medical illnesses such as diabetes and high blood pressure; certain medications, including some anti-depressants; and relationship difficulties.
Tests help evaluate sexual dysfunction include:
Blood tests These tests are done to evaluate hormone levels. Vascular assessment This involves an evaluation of the blood flow to the penis. A blockage in a blood vessel supplying blood to the penis may be contributing to erectile dysfunction. Sensory testing Particularly useful in evaluating the effects of diabetic neuropathy, sensory testing measures the strength of nerve impulses in a particular area of the body.

How is male sexual dysfunction treated?
Many cases of sexual dysfunction can be corrected by treating the underlying physical or psychological problems. Treatment strategies may include the following:
Homeopathic management
Impotence is the inability to maintain an erection long enough to engage in normal sexual intercourse. Many factors can contribute, including emotional issues, dietary factors, use of alcohol or drugs, and level of physical fitness. Homeopathic remedies sometimes help with temporary difficulties. If the problem is constant or recurrent, a doctor should be consulted to check for physical, hormonal, or nervous system problems. A constitutional remedy and the guidance of an experienced practitioner may help bring balance to a person’s system, both emotionally and physically.

How to get fair naturally at home. Please recommend a method that definitely works.

How to get fair naturally at home. Please recommend a method that definitely works.
Believe me, if you are happy from inside and taking nutritious, healthy food and daily yoga or some kind of exercises, it will be automatically reflected on your face. Yes, the colour which is inherited from your parents/ ancestors, cannot be changed, but you can try to get glow on your face!! Daily Regime: Apart from these, you do follow CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally sunscreen with SPF-30 – a thick layer of Bakson's Suncare cream may be, 20-30 minutes before going out daily and repeat it's application after every 3-4hrs.) after washing your face daily; use the products as per your skin type. This will change the skin texture and skin tone. In case you do have tanning, apply honey with a dash of lime on your face. Eat right and healthy that too on time, relieve your stress/ tensions, sleep well, stop smoking, as this restricts blood flow to your face and leaves you with a greyish complexion. lead a healthy lifestyle! Apart from this, avoid anger, anxiety, fear which increases stress hormone in the body and subsequently makes your complexion darker! (Hormonal imbalances also plays a major role). If the dull and dark skin tone is due to any underlying ailment or diseases, need to look into the matter. Diet: -Increase your Vitamin C intake (lemon,orange,gooseberry,etc.Fruits/juices, strawberries, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and green peas). - Eat more Vitamin A (nonfat milk, oysters, and egg yolks, carrots, watermelon, papaya, tomatoes, or other dark colored produce) . If you feel your skin is weak or not tight enough, that usually suggests a lack of Vitamin A. Medicine: You can also use homoeopathic cream - Medicynth's Whitch Hazel daily at night. Home remedies: Apply fresh-squeezed lemon juice to your entire face and neck. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash it off with lukewarm water. After this, rub cucumber slices on your skin to soften and moisturize it. Do this daily or every other day. Another option is squeeze the juice of one-half lemon and mix one to two tablespoons of raw honey in it. Apply it on your face, leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse it off. To exfoliate your skin, mix two teaspoons each of lemon juice and sugar. Apply the mixture on your face, neck and hands. Scrub in a circular motion and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Follow this remedy once a week to enjoy glowing skin.
