Dadhi Badhane ke Upay in Hindi - घनी दाढ़ी बढ़ाने के घरेलू उपाय

Dadhi Badhane ke Upay in Hindi -

Treatment Of Skin

Who doesn’t want a healthy skin but getting that healthy skin is far easier said than done! we all suffer from skin issues-some common, some not so much. Skin conditions depend on umpteen numbers of factors, such as hormone imbalance, blood impurity, stomach problems, etc.

There are some skin problems, which are just superficial while most others are related to internal problems. Skin issues affect the face, hands and other exposed parts of the body. Treating them superficially means just suppressing them, which may lead to similar or graver problems elsewhere or cause it to reappear with more intensity. So the best way to treat these skin problems is to treat them from their roots, internally.

Homeopathy is the system of medicine in which ailments are treated by minimal doses of natural substances. It attacks and cures the root cause of the ailment without causing side effects. To deal with skin disease, it not only studies the skin type but also takes into account a complete analysis of the mind, genetic factors and the condition of the immune system. Homeopathy just doesn’t treat the symptoms, but delves inside the body and takes on the root cause behind the symptoms.

Homeopathy is effective in treating various skin problems, such as eczema, rashes, allergic dermatitis, uriticaria, psoriasis, lichen planus and other variants, lichen planus and other variants, chronic and recurring bacterial infections, chronic and recurring bacterial infections, fungus infections, acne, dandruff, hair loss and many other skin ailments.

Homeopathy for skin problems – top 10 treatments:

Here is a list of top 10 treatments in homeopathy for skin problems, which if followed will give amazing results. Read on to know more:

1. Rhus toxicodendron:

This is a useful remedy for treating eczema. In eczema, the skin is covered with numerous vesicular eruptions. The symptoms of eczema include itching, tingling, swelling, etc. The symptoms get worse at night, during winter and in damp weather. Cold air aggravates the problem. Warmth and moisturizing provides some temporary relief. It tends to get worse and become uriticaria and herpes, if not treated on time.

2. Natrum muriaticum:

This remedy is also for eczema. It not only treats eczema but is also known to provide relief from mental disturbances caused due to grief and disappointment, being resentful, dwelling on past unhappy instances, fears of rejection, etc.

3. Graphites:

It is a remedy for a number of skin diseases. The symptoms which it treats are moist scruffy eruptions on the scalp, face, bends of joints, between fingers and behind the ears. It also treats cracked corners of the mouth and eyes, bleeding and release of a gluey, honey-like, thick, tenacious discharge, etc. It is also useful in treating symptoms, such as dry and itchy skin; brittle hair that tends to fall off and other such related symptoms.

4. Pulsatilla:

Pulsatilla is predominantly a female remedy. This remedy treats rashes with profuse menses or scanty menses or rashes due to gastric or uterine problems. Diarrhea may also accompany these rashes. Nettle rash, which is worse at the beginning of winter, as well as itching when exposed to air, is also treated by this medicine. Acne can also be healed with pulsatilla.

5. Sepia:

If you have that point towards herpes, sepia is the medicine to take. This homeopathic medicine treats symptoms of herpetic conditions around the bends of joints, knees and ankles, behind the ears. In the beginning, it is dry, and then it turns moist and releases discharge. Brownish spots on the skin, yellow spots, and liver spots are few of the other symptoms. It also treats eczema on hands, as well as dry, rough and chapped skin. It is also good in treating psoriasis.

6. Arsenicum:

It is a useful remedy for many of the skin problems where the skin is thickened like in chronic uriticaria, psoriasis and chronic eczema. People suffering from these conditions experience swelling along with itching and burning sensations. It also cures nettle rash and pimples.

7. Sulphur:

Sulphur is best known as the ‘skin remedy’! it has a particularly powerful centrifugal action, in that it brings symptoms to the surface. It treats the burning aggravation resulting from washing. Soreness and itching in the folds of the skin, its roughness and coarseness is also taken care of by sulphur. Itching in the scalp, hair fall, deficient growth of nails are few other symptoms that sulphur can treat. It is also useful in psoriasis and eczema. It also treats acne.

8. Nitricum acidum:

It is one of the best remedies for treating ulcers with symptoms like profuse granulations, ragged and zigzag and often raised edges, vascular bleeding, blisters and ulcers in mouth, tongue, genitals that bleed easily. Fissures, pain during bowel movement, excessive physical irritability, etc. Are the other symptoms nitric acid or nitricum acidum addresses.

9. Cantharis:

Cantharis is used to treat burns or skin conditions that resemble burns. It is also helpful in curing sunburn, blisters, skin eruptions, and insect bites. Symptoms it addresses include blister formation and searing pain. In fact, it can relieve the pain associated with second or third degree burns. If applied on unbroken skin, in case of a burn, it promptly relieves pain and often prevents vesication. If the skin is broken, it can be administered externally with boiled or distilled water.

10. Thuja occidentalis:

This homeopathy medicine for skin problems is very useful in treating problems like warts, acne, age spots etc. It helps the body to get rid of scaly patches, itchy skin, and brown age spots. It treats the skin in case of papulo-vesiculo-pustulur eruptions. It also cures tubercles, warts epithelioma, naevi, carbuncles; ulcers, especially in ano-genital region, freckles, dry skin etc.

The main action of thuja is on the skin and genito-urinary organs. It has a specific antibacterial action that helps in treating acne, blackheads, whiteheads etc.

Homeopathy has vast range of medicines for treating and curing skin problems and skin allergies. There are many medicines, other than the 10 mentioned above, that can treat a number of skin issues. Each homeopathy medicine treats a variety of diseases. So, the homeopath first prefers to understand the mind, habits, genetics, and other ailments of the patient and then prescribe the medicine to address the problems.

The only limitation of this branch of medicine is—time! homeopathy takes its own sweet time to cure, as it cures from the very root. In today’s world, when everything is ‘instant’, this aspect maybe taken as a drawback. But homeopathy medicines are the most effective and sure shot treatment option that not just heals but repairs the body from within.

Colorectal Cancer - Risk Factors You Must Know!

Colorectal Cancer - Risk Factors You Must Know!

The lower part of the digestive system is known as the large intestine (colon), and colon cancer is the name given to the type of cancer that affects it. The rectal cancer is the cancer that affects the last few inches of the colon. Collectively they are known as colorectal cancers. In most of the cases, small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called adenomatous polyps are formed in the intestine. They are not harmful on their own, but over a period, they enlarge to become colon cancers. Let us have a look at the early symptoms.

Polyps and the symptoms
Polyps are very small and do not display symptoms on their own. Doctors advise regular screening test to find polyps and destroy them before they can aggravate to colon cancer. In most of the cases, the symptoms start to appear only in the advanced levels. These include:

  1. Changes in the bowel movement: There can be severe diarrhea or constipation. There can also be changes in the consistency of the stool.
  2. Blood clots in the stool: There can be a persistent bleeding when passing out the stools. In some cases, there can be a general discomfort and pain while passing the stool.
  3. Severe abdominal discomforts: Abdominal cramps and gas can be a regular occurrence. They would not respond to any digestive medications.
  4. Weakness or fatigue: The body tends to get weak and fatigued easily. Even performing essential activities can be a daunting task.
  5. Unexplained weight loss: Even after a proper diet, the body tends to lose weight. Weight loss can be categorized as one of the advanced stages of the disease.

The symptoms vary drastically depending on the size of cancer and the location in the large intestine. It is advisable to consult an oncologist if the symptoms mentioned above persist and it is also mandatory to have regularized screening after the age of 50.

Risk Factors
There are also certain important factors that have to be looked that may increase the risk of colon cancer. These include:

  1. Old age: It usually affects people more than the age of 50. Chances of it occurring in young people are very minimal.
  2. Inflammation of the intestine: Chronic inflammatory diseases of the intestine such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease can increase the risk of colon cancer.
  3. Genetics: Chances are that the genes could be passed on through the generation and family; thereby enhancing the likelihood of colorectal cancer.
  4. Diet: Fatty foods and foods that are low in fiber content can be one of the causes of colon cancer. People who are overweight and obese also increase their risk drastically.
  5. Smoking and alcohol: Smoking and drinking in excess levels increase the chances of getting colon cancer.

Colonic Polyps - Tests That Can Help You Diagnose!

Colonic Polyps - Tests That Can Help You Diagnose!

Colon polyps are growths that are typically found in the large intestine. Although the causes behind the occurrence of colon polyps are not known, this condition is usually seen to affect adults. These colon polyps might turn into colon cancer over a period of time; the development of cancer can happen over a number of years.

Colon polyps are usually symptomless; hence it becomes difficult to diagnose the condition. They are commonly found as additional results of screening tests for colon cancers. Screening tests are conducted when there is a suspicion of a disease but it displays no significant symptoms. The symptoms can only be visible if the polyps are enlarged.

Typical symptoms include:

  1. Rectal bleeding.

  2. Changes in bowel conditions such as diarrhoea and constipation.

  3. Changes in urination patterns.

  4. Change in appearance of stool.

As the presence of most polyps becomes evident only during colon cancer tests, it is recommended that regular tests for colon cancer be conducted for adults over the age of 50.

Some of these tests include:

  1. Colonoscopy: This is highly recommended for detecting colon polyps. A small tube used for viewing is inserted into the colon by the doctor.

  2. Flexible Sigmoidoscopy: It is similar to colonoscopy with the only difference being that the tube is smaller.

  3. Computed Tomographic Colonography (CTC): Also known as virtual colonoscopy, various computer systems and X-rays are used to create a detailed picture of the colon so that the doctor can search for polyps.

The size of the colon polyps helps to identify if the polyp is cancerous or not. Chances of the polyp being cancerous are high if the size of the polyp is higher than 1 cm or 0.4 inches. Hyperplastic polyps (smaller polyps) do not become cancerous and hence, do not need to undergo a colonoscopy. Another form of polyp is the sessile polyp which is usually a flat growth without a stalk and grows on the inner wall of the colon. Similar to other polyps, these polyps can be found and removed using a colonoscopy or a sigmoidoscopy.

Hi Lybrate user, Mix one teaspoon each of cinnamon powder and lemon juice with a pinch of turmeric powder. Spread it on your face, leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off. Mix one teaspoon honey and the juice of four tomatoes in sufficient oatmeal to make a paste. Scrub it on your skin. Wash it off after 10 minutes Wash your face, pat it dry and apply a layer of the egg white on your skin. Then place a tissue paper over this layer of egg white mask. Press gently and apply the second layer of egg white over the tissue. You can continue to apply 3-4 layers, but make sure that each layer is dry before you proceed to apply the next layer. Then peel the tissue off and wash to remove the egg white face mask if it there are traces of it on your face Start any kind of physical activity to work up enough sweat or use a sauna room. When you start sweating excessively, rinse your face with water and pat dry using a towel. Do steaming on alternate days.

How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks?

MD - Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Hyderabad
How To Get Rid Of Stretch Marks?

Stretch marks don’t only happen after childbirth, they can happen to anyone due to sudden changes in body size and weight. These are like ugly brown scars usually present on the stomach, thighs and hips. Truth be told, 90% of pregnant women will get stretch marks around these parts of their bodies.

These are some very easy things one can do to get reduce the appearance of stretch marks both old and new:

  1. Moisturizing- Lotioning –up regularly can lighten stretch marks. Moisturizing helps to hydrate skin and this makes it easier for it to stretch. Moisturizing is very effective in lightening new stretch marks and can prevent new stretch marks from forming. Older stretch marks are more difficult to get rid of, though.

  2. Retin A- Retin-A based creams are very effective against stretch marks. Retin-A works by boosting collagen production which helps the skin to stretch out and avoid tears which cause stretch marks. Pregnant and nursing women should not use Retinoic acid containing products, however. It also doesn’t work on old stretch marks.

  3. Glycolic Acid- This too can increase collagen production when used on skin. It is even more effective as alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) which is used in chemical skin peels. You can use glycolic acid on skin even during pregnancy. Save your skin from sunlight when using glycolic acid.

  4. Vitamin E Oil- This is touted as the miracle cure for stretch marks and it delivers especially when used on new stretch marks. Use it with an unscented moisturiser for better coverage.

  5. Essential Oils- These are common home remedies for tackling stretch marks. One can use them directly on skin or mix with the carrier oil before use. These are the ones to go for:

    • Lavender

    • Rose

    • Frankincense

  6. Vitamin C- You can take Vitamin C as a supplement to lighten stretch marks. You can also mix topical glycolic acid with vitamin C and apply on the skin directly.

  7. Lasers- These are the magic wands of cosmetic surgery and rightly so. Fresh stretch marks can be tackled using a pulsed dye laser also called vascular laser. The downsides of this laser treatment are that it works on early stretch marks and not on mature ones. It is also very expensive. This laser also doesn’t work on darker skins.

  8. Fractional Laser Treatment- These are very effective against older stretch marks. Your doctor will use this laser to resurface the older marks smoothing the surface of the skin. The treatment is very expensive and can cause hyper-pigmentation and scarring.

  9. Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck- This is the only certain way to obliterate stretch marks. What the surgeon does is cut out swathes of skin from your abdomen with stretch marks. Downsides are that it’s a risky procedure. There could be life-threatening complications and recovery takes long, sometimes as long as 3 to 6 months. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Keratosis Pilaris - Why It Happens?

Post Graduate Diploma Practical Dermatology, MBBS
Dermatologist, Delhi
Keratosis Pilaris - Why It Happens?

The skin has a protein called keratin that protects it from infections and other harmful toxins.  For various reasons, mostly unknown but likely genetic, there could be a buildup of this keratin leading to small, light-colored, hard bumps under the skin that can feel like sandpaper. This condition is medically known as keratosis pilaris.  These pillars of keratin block the hair follicles that open onto the surface of the skin, and when a number of follicles are blocked, it leads to dry, bumpy feeling. In common words, it is also referred to as chicken skin, chicken bumps, or goose bumps.

Occurrence:  The onset is usually in the first decade of life, continues to grow in number in teenagers (80%), and slowly subsides as they grow older (40% of adults).  People with dry skin are more likely to have these bumps than people with oily skin.  The most commonly affected areas include upper arms, thighs, buttocks and very rarely on the face.

Cause: This is a genetic disorder, and the bumps are due to excessive formation and buildup of keratin due to faulty genes.  There could be surplus skin formation under these follicles or hair follicles trapped under these bumps.  There could be a small area of inflammation and redness around the bumps.
Weather Correlation:  Keratotis pilaris is more common and evident during the winter months when the skin is normally drier than in summer months.  Some people could have this condition lifelong, with only manifestation seen in winters and complete absence of bumps in the summer months.

Symptoms: The condition is usually asymptomatic, except for the dryness, and does not cause itching or medical harm. The esthetic concern, especially if in upper arms, is the only concern.  Some people could be affected by the hard, bumpy feeling of the skin.  There are no long-term medical symptoms or harmful effects of this condition though.

Treatment:  No treatment is required; however, moisturizers may be required to prevent the bumps from drying up. In very severe cases, creams may be used to remove dead skin cells and to prevent plugged follicles.  Alpha hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, or lactic acid containing creams can be used to remove the dead skin cells. These also help moisturize the skin and reduce dryness.  Vitamin A containing creams can be used to unplug the hair follicles.

A word of caution though - these creams can cause itching and redness.  Since this condition is prevalent in children, these creams need to be used only if absolutely essential and with medical prescriptions. The condition is harmless and self-limiting, so no treatment is mandatory.  Patient education is of utmost importance in these cases.
