Summer Diet - Foods that Will Keep You Cool!!

As much as you would like, an ice cream can't help you cool down in the scorching heat of this summer. Although one may argue that one feels just fine after an ice cream, the truth is that it's only temporary. Cooling foods are what you should have as they help to cool heat and cleanse toxins from the body.

Here are some of the foods that help cool down your body naturally:

  1. Cucumber - Not surprisingly, being 'cool as a cucumber' actually holds true. Cucumbers are fruits that help keep the body hydrated. Keeping your body cool during hot days is vital to your health as it can help prevent a number of complications such as heat strokes and dehydration. Munching on cucumber slices and hummus is a good way to beat the heat and stay cool.
  2. Watermelon - This quintessential beach fruit is yet another one which would help you beat the heat. This seasonal fruit acts like an internal air-conditioner, and is rich in water, helping in reducing body heat to a large extent while keeping you hydrated.
  3. Peaches - Peaches are not only delicious but are very rich in vitamins A and C, which help in keeping your body cool. Besides, these vitamins also help in maintaining healthy skin and provide useful calories to the body.
  4. Apples - Apples are fruits that help to fill you up and cool down your body at the same time. They contain about 4g of fiber and around 95 calories and are enriched with a soluble fiber called pectin, which stops hunger and helps in shedding weight.
  5. Pineapple - Along with banana, cucumber, and some other fruits, pineapple helps to make a healthy smoothie. These ingredients have cooling properties, which hydrate the body and help to clear the heat. Also, pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain, which reduces inflammation in the body.
  6. Avoid caffeinated or carbonated beverages, alcoholic beverages, and those high in sugarAll these drinks contain preservatives, colours and sugars. They are acidic in nature and act as diuretics. They cause loss of fluids through urine.
  7. Do not drink very chilled liquids - They do not really help cool you down in summers, though they make you cool for some time. Drinking really cold liquids when feeling hot may lead to a slight constriction of the blood vessels in the skin and decrease heat loss, which is not advisable when trying to cool down.

Apart from this you must limit all strenuous activity, eat light, nutritious and non-fatty meals, and reduce intake of heaty vegetables and fruits, like spinach, radish, hot peppers, onions, garlic, beetroot, pineapple, grapefruit and ripe mangoes (if you cannot resist mangoes, soak them overnight in water). If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a dietitian/nutritionist.

I am 26 years old and I ended up twisting my knee 2 months back on 25th of March while dancing due to bad landing and since then I have been struggling to find what the injury actually is. I went for an MRI as advised which showed mild effusion in knee bones and no tears in ligaments and fracture in bones after taking rest for 3 weeks I consulted another doctor who asked to repeat the MRI as the knee was not healed and there was lot of fluid surrounding the knee due to which lot of swelling was there. In 2nd MRI it showed partial tear of ACL grade 2 and break of muscle fibres and mild joint effusion. Please suggest me the best option as the fluid has again surrounded after removing once by Doctor. Doing my exercises but hardly any recovery. Knee is quite stiff and pain is experienced only on the bones part so confused if it is bone injury or ACL injury. Moreover 2 doctors have advised for ACL surgery and 1 advised against it as it is more of a bone injury and a small partial tear of ACL. Less amount of pain is experienced with 70℅ movement of knee after exercises .instability of knee m not sure how can I check as still cannot walk properly and using elbow crutch and knee brace to walk. please advise something as it's been 2 months. Do I need to take full bed rest as doctor advised I can walk but it's not helping me in any case. Knee is still swelled up with lots of fluid surrounding but not any clue of pain in the acl area. Only experiencing little pain on knee bones.

Use icing 2 time a day for 6 to 7 min. Do regular quadriceps strength and isometric exercise. If 2nd grade injury hardly no need to surgery but if you are athletes or sportsman than you should do surgery.

You should take small and frequent meal, Include combination of protein and carbohydrate in your diet. Take milk and milk product, egg, chicken, all beans, soy and its product, sprouts. Take fruit shakes, include 1 fistful dry fruits in your diet (3-4 almonds + 1 Walnut + 2-3 Dates + 4-5 raisins 2-3 cashewnut).In lunch have multigrain roti + 1bowl dal /palak paneer/ egg white bhurji + 1bowl salad. Hello! Weekness in body n legs many results due to masturbation! And otherwise also addiction to masturbation is not good for your health it may leAds to impotency in future! So avoid masturbation and stop thinking much about sexual topics! Do yoga, prayers, read positive books etc which will calm your mind! And about the sound from knees, do one x ray of both knees! It may b due to deficiency of calcium or any bone related joint problem which can easily corrected with medicine! TC.

You need to reduce your calorie intake. Restrict rice, potato, sweets, junk foods in your meals. Have a healthy breakfast and have light & early dinners. Have a protein & fiber -rich diet with lots of fruits, salads & vegetables in your daily meals. Drink at least 3 lts water daily. Exercise / brisk walk for at least 30 minutes daily is a must.

For weight gain, initially don't depend on any kind pf protein powder or supplements. Firstly, try to increase your protein intake from dietary sources. Include milk and milk product in your diet, egg, chicken, fish sprouts, soy and its product in your diet. Please take fruit shakes (Like banana, mango) + 5-6 almonds and 1-2 walnuts. You need to increase your calorie intake by increasing your carbohydrates & protein intake. You can have parathas, cheese sandwiches in your breakfast. Increase 1 chapati more in your lunch & dinner. Add rice in your lunch. Include vegetables, dal, salad ,curd in your daily meals. You can have milkshakes, cookies fruits in between your meals. Add sweet dish. Eat every 2-3 hours.

Medications & supplements for weight gain have adverse health effects. Try diet & activity changes instead. Have buffalo or cow milk. (Hot/ cold) with milk powder. For weight gain in a healthy way, 1. Have 3 litres water daily. 2. Have frequent meals comprising foods high in nutrient & energy density but low in volume. Ex: fruit & almonds milkshake, cheese potato chicken sandwich, egg curry, rice/ atta maida roti with ghee, til chikki, dry fruits, premix, malt, soybean cutlets, fish fingers, stuffed parathas, banana, dates, mango. 3. Avoid water with or just before meals 4. Have 15 mins light walk before main meals to enhance appetite. Consider getting a thyroid test done to rule out hyperthyroidism. 5. Practice 30 mins strength exercises daily for weight gain.

Please go for a routine checkup ASAP so that if there us any problem it can be tackled easily. You can take any multivitamin tablet bu you should focus on your dietary pattern, For gaining weight, you have to be patient and practice it correctly. In lunch have Bajra/ barley/ ragi/ missi (50% Besan 50 % Barley) roti + 1bowl dal /palak paneer/ egg white bhurji + 1bowl salad. Evening have fruits shake/lassi/badam shake Dinner: 1-2 paneer stuffed Barley chapati /1-2 Ragi chapti + 1bowl dal+ 1bowl salad. After exercise you should take 1-2 egg white omlette with cup of apple shake or any kind of shake you can take.
