Carcinoid tumours are of neuroendocrine origin and are formed from primitive stem cells in the gut wall. They can be seen in other organs as well. Carcinoid tumours are classified as foregut, midgut and hindgut tumours. Symptoms vary depending on the location of the tumour. Common symptoms are periodic abdominal pain, cutaneous flushing, diarrhoea and malabsorption and wheezing or asthma like symptom.
