Injuries to tendons, ligaments and muscles are classified as soft tissue injuries. Soft tissue damage comprises of muscle strains, bruises and sprains. Bruises, swelling and pain are the symptoms of soft tissue damage. RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) is a treatment protocol followed to treat these injuries and common painkillers are used to treat the pain. One to six weeks is the usual time period taken by these injuries to heal, and in case of a substantial injury, the recovery time is longer.
