I am 27 years old I have pain in my lower back pain goes down to buttock until knee but mostly I feel pain in my buttock when I sit down for a while after that when I try to walk I felt pain in the left side buttock. And some times if feel voice of muscles or bones.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Have you ever felt pain in your great toe or may be ankle/foot/knee/heel/wrist/elbow which was intially in one joint and over the time involved other joints too. Then you might be having increased uric acid levels. Diet is important in such patients. Consume food less in purine content like cornflakes, white bread, pasta, flour, milk and its products, eggs, lettuce, tomatoes, green veggies and fruit juices. Strict no to all high purine foods like meats, seafood, beas, peas, lentils, spinach, cauliflower, mushrooms, beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Last 2 month take physiotherapy for 5 days tens therapy and heat formation or rest and avoid overstrain activity like forward bending heavy weight long sitting and standing.

I do have a problem in my ankle, it is not moving freely because I had a fracture few years back and then I got two surgeries but still it is not moving freely. Please recommended something.

Post surgery stiffness in joints can be due to delayed mobilisation or arthritis most of the cases can be dealt with physiotherapy if pain is also present then do an xray and show.

I understand your concern regarding shoulder pain. At 58, cause of shoulder pain is usually impingement syndrome and rotator cuff tear. You need to consult shoulder specialist orthopedic surgeon. I think there is no shoulder specialist in jamshedpur. You can try scapular stabilisation exercises and rotator cuff strengthening exercises. If pain doesn't settle, you will need x rays and mri of your shoulder.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

For pain just give hot water and cold water fomentation thrice a day for 10 days of 15 minutes duration each if still pain persists do consult neuro physiotherapist or orthopaedician asap to rule out nerve deficit or ls lesions if any best wishes

I am 23yr old female, I have been suffering from backache and difficulty in standing due to dragging down pain in back (thoracic). This problem started 7-8yrs back and I is now worse. I did physiotherapy once and got benefitted from it. I am mostly suspecting it to be postural backache. But if I sit or stand straight then pain increases. Now since couple of months I have been getting pain in lower limbs also. I have ignored this problem since many yrs but now I want to get rid of it asap before it gets too late! kindly suggest me investigations to be done and treatment.

Exercises should not be painful to perform. Aim to work within the pain free range of motion. We recommend seeking professional advice before attempting any anterior cruciate ligament rehabilitation exercises. Exercisesfor knee and to maintain its mobility includes: 1Knee flexion & extension Following an anterior cruciate ligament injury it is common for the patient to have difficulty straightening the leg. Gently bend and straighten the knee to keep it mobile and try to improve range of motion. You can do this in sitting, standing or lying, however you are most comfortable. Don't push it into pain, only do what you can comfortably achieve. Repeat 10 to 20 times. Repeat the set 3 times a day until full mobility is restored. 2Heel slides Lie on your back and bend the knee ensuring the foot stays in contact with the floor. Repeat 10 to 20 times. Slight discomfort may be felt but not pain. This exercise can also be done by using a towel or similar to assist in pulling the leg in. Play heel slide knee mobility video 3Hamstring stretch Hamstring stretches can be done in a number of ways either sitting, standing or lying down. Gently take the leg to the limit of its comfortable range until a gentle stretch is felt at the back of the thigh. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds and relax - you can search on utube for hamstring stretch 4Groin stretch This exercise stretches the adductor muscles on the inside of the thigh. Sit on the floor with both legs out straight, as far apart as you comfortably can. Lean forwards from the hips until you feel a gentle stretch in the groin area. Hold for 20-30 seconds - Strengthening exercises Strengthening exercises can also begin as soon as pain allows. The further you can get with strengthening exercises prior to surgery then the more likely you are to have a faster recovery post operation. 5 Isometric quadriceps exercise Contract the knee muscles and hold for 5 to 10 seconds. Relax for about 3 seconds and repeat 10 to 20 times. U can also place towel roll and press it till you count 30 do these exercises 2 - 3 tomes daily.

Hi I have pain in lower back from last 3 years. An Ortho. From Artemis Hospital Gurgaon told me that there is some problem in L5-L6 disk and I should get it changed. I am not feeling the pain on regular basis. Sometime, it is more than 15 days without any pain. However, there are times when I am unable to get up from the bed without any help. I am a 23 year old male. I met with a road accident on late of January and fractured my Femur Bone. Oblique Fracture. And had a vascular injury as well because of age accident. It's been complete 4 months but my xray are not showing any improvement. What should I do. I was treated with plates and nail for the support of my femur.

If the fracture is well fixed then it should unite in about 3-6 months in your age. Cause of delayed union may be compound injury, or vascular injury. I advise to wait 2 more months if your fracture is well fixed. After that also xray don't show union signs, then second surgery may be required.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Dear lybrate user use hot pack 15 minutes twice a day and use ointment stretching exercise of leg, big towel roll put under knee press towel tight your knee hold 5 sec repeat 10 times, put rolled towel between both knee press for 5 sec repeat 10 times, bend and straight both knee with bed contact 15 times repeat.

She could be suffering from rheumatoid type arthritis. You should get appropriate tests done after consulting an orthopedic surgeon or rheumatologist.

Hello, I would suggest you to consult a physiotherapist, who can diagnose root cause of your problem and treat it conservatively if possible. Meanwhile do not do the activities which increases the pain also apply ice if the pain is localized or sharp shooting. Lying down should relieve the pain. Make note of activities which increase the pain which can be long sitting, forward bending, long standing or walking, cross leg sitting etc and avoid them.
