Dear Lybrateuser, -At your age chest pain could be due to acidity, anxiety or sedentary habit -Avoid spicy, fried & junk food, have fresh homemade food, do not skip meals, have meals at regular timing, have more of fruits & vegetables, chew your food well, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime, do not lye down for about an hour after eating meals -drink 8-10 glasses of water per day -do regular exercises like jogging, cycling, outdoor games for 20-30 min ,also include yoga & deep breathing exercises for 5-10 min daily in the morning -restrict tea/coffee to 2-3 cups/day, have milk instead.

I suddenly felt uneasy at night after being normal measured my BP, it was high so I took pill to make BP normal and couldn't sleep properly. And in morning again I measured my BP and it is still high 210/130. What should I do now and are there chances that I had Heart Attack at night.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user.all you need is immediate treatment to control your B.P.since it is severe. First line of treatment in this scenario must be to control B.P.you may need anti hypertensive medicines. Do not try any thing else, once your B.P. Is controlled, you can go for investigations to find the cause of hypertension, get your below given investigations done ,Blood Investigations: Renal (Kidney profile) ,Lipid profile, Blood Sugar. Also get your ECG & 2D echo done. One more thing high Blood pressure does not necessarily mean that you had heart attack, so do not worry about it. Once you get investigations done and results are available, then we can think about further treatment. Thanks.

Hello Doctor, From past few months (3 months) I am not feeling very great. I feel low in energy all the time and when I stand on my feet I feel like I have to hold onto something to be steady though I don't feel I am fainting or I will fall or lose my balance. But yes I feel like that I am disbalancing a bit. Secondly, I have this problem of heartburn and gas as well. No matter what I eat, sometimes I get severe heart burn and sometimes I am OK. Gas is constantly building whenever I eat anything. I would say that 65% after eating anything I get heartburn. Thirdly, I get palpitations and I think I have become very sensitive. Sensitive in the sense that whenever I am sleeping or resting on my bed, even a small sound or a bang or anything or even a slight banging makes me feel like my heart is pounding/dropping/ or something (dil ghabrana ek dum se). From past few days I got this pain in my chest (right side). Pain is not severe but it is disturbing and I don't feel comfortable at all. My stomach is upset all the time and some pain in bowel. I have got an ultrasound done, I can attach a copy of it if required. I feel low everything and I spend most of my time worrying about things or how to sort my life out. When I think too much these problems becomes intense and I feel really uncomfortable with all this happening. Headache is another issue, regular pain in temples of my head and itching inside my ear is also there. I have tried a lot of doctors but not happy with what they have suggested me. I would request you to consult or advice me in a best possible way please.

Firstly relax take it easy, with some discipline in life and medicine you can start feeling better get following tests and if already done write report blood cbc, blood sugar f/pp, lipid profile and thyroid hormones t3, t4, tsh get bp, ecg /tmt- treadmill test and echo. Start doing following you have to improve your food habits 1. Take 2/ 3 glass of warm water in the morning 2. Take more water in day 3. Take meals at fixed hrs 4. Take small amount of food at a time, take more frequent meals - may be five times a day. 5. No spicy/ fried/ fast/ junk/processed food. 6. No milk for few days, can take curd, no uncooked salad 7. Avoid constipation report feed back with what ever reports available earliest good luck.

Hello Shashi, chest pain in your case may be due to 1.acidity. 2. severe anxiety 3. muscular problem A.You can take Tablet Pantocid 40 mg one tablet before food for 3 days B. Local application of Volini gel 1% twice a day for 2-3 day you should go for BP check along with Base line ECG and review with report I am giving you some health tips to avoid acidity 1.Take small frequent meal kindly take 5-6 small meal in whole day 2.Take 6-8 glass of water in a day 4. Moderate physical activity regularly 5.avoid excessive tea, coffee 6. Do Not postpone Breakfast thanks

Is dehydration a cause for low BP or hypotension? My friend was suffering from low BP frequently in this summer. Is dehydration a cause for this. Could you suggest please.

Yes dehydration may cause the hypotension Drink more water, less alcohol.  Follow a healthy diet. Get all the nutrients you need for good health by focusing on a variety of foods, including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean chicken and fish. Use salt but you don't like a lot of salt on your food, try using natural soy sauce or adding dry soup mixes to dips and dressings. Go slowly when changing body positions. Before getting out of bed in the morning, breathe deeply for a few minutes and then slowly sit up before standing. Sleeping with the head of your bed slightly elevated also can help fight the effects of gravity. If you begin to get symptoms while standing, cross your thighs in a scissors fashion and squeeze, or put one foot on a ledge or chair and lean as far forward as possible. These maneuvers encourage blood to flow from your legs to your heart. Eat small, low-carb meals. To help prevent blood pressure from dropping sharply after meals, eat small portions several times a day and limit high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. Drinking caffeinated coffee or tea with meals to temporarily raise blood pressure.

Dear lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to GERD -avoid spicy, fried, junk food, restrict tea, coffee to 1-2 cups per day, alcohol, tobacco if you take, sour foods, chocolate mint - chew your food well, do not skip meals, have meals on time, have 5-6 small meals including snacks rather than having three large meals, do not lye down for 1-2 hrs after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime, raise the pillow end by 5-6 inches when sleeping at night - take tablet Pan 40, 1 tab half an hour before breakfast daily - do regular exercise like walking whenever you get time, also do yoga & deep breathing for proper digestion.

To control or maintan BP normal there are some instructions are given below: •Do not take salt in high amount or try to avoid it because high sodium level increase BP. • Eat less amount of pickle and fast food, fast food contain high sodium. • Avoid drinking alcohol and smoking. • Take less amount of coffee and tea both increase BP. • Drink 8 to 10 glass of water daily. • Do exercise daily such as long walk. • Take 6 to 8 hrs of sleep daily. Do not take too much stress. • Do long breathing pranayams, anulom vilom pranayams daily for 10 - 15 minutes. It will reduce your stress level in your body. • Avoid taking too much fat foods such as butter, cheese, ghee. • Eat healthy diet such as green leafy vegetables, fruits. Eat an apple daily.

I have a uneven chest too n I went to doctor he said its your bone and its normal nothing to worry and told me to take pan 20 medicine for 10 days before meal once in a day and bandy medicine and vit d sachet to take once in a week but sir I have chest pain in left which is sharp but goes away within 3-4 sec and sometimes during I take long breath and even when I wake up in morning I have pain in left chest but the pain comes as a sharp pain but goes within 4-5 sec and its comes in 6-7 times a day I had anxiety before 3 years and I do sleep on stomach can it be the reason and I do smoke cigarettes I overstress things too like over thinking about my chest pain and heart and all. Sir please tell me its any disease or something or its my anxiety and due to overdressing things?

Dear user. I can understand. You are HEALTH ANXIOUS, it seems. Hypochondriasis is an Obsession with the idea of having a serious but undiagnosed medical condition. Health anxiety is not a serious mental disorder but without proper treatment the person affected could be depressed and continuously engaged in negative thoughts. I suggest online counseling, cognitive Behavior Therapy and Relaxation therapy. Take care.
