Rickets is the weakening or softening of bones that is caused due to the lack of Vitamin D and calcium for a long time. Stunted growth and skeletal and teeth deformities are the signs and symptoms of this disorders. Individuals with this disorder are at a greater risk of bone fractures.

A paediatrician would observe these symptoms and do a blood test to check for deficiency of the above.

Most cases of rickets can be treated with vitamin D and calcium supplements.
