Pinta is a human skin disease and it is thought to be transmitted by skin-to-skin contact and it is characterized by chronic skin lesions that occur primarily in young adults. In the case of this disease, the bacteria enters the skin through a small cut, scratch or other skin damage and once inside the body, the warmth of the body allows the bacteria to multiply. One of the most common symptom of Pinta include red bump on the skin.
HOW IS PINTA DIAGNOSED?
Diagnosis is done by a general physician who would do tests like serological tests and rapid plasma reagin (RPR) and TPHA. Other microscopic tests also help detect the same.
HOW IS PINTA TREATED?
The treatment for Pinta will be focused towards tackling the infection through administering penicillin or tetracycline in the appropriate dosage depending on the severity of the condition as assessed by the GP, based on the clinical test reports.
