Malrotation in the intestines is a type of intestinal obstruction that blocks the digestive tract and prevents proper passage of food. The malrotation is basically twisting of the intestines that is caused by abnormal development of the foetus and is hence a congenital condition. Children born with this condition almost always have other abnormalities such as that of the digestive system, heart and other organs like the liver and spleen. One of the earliest signs of the condition is abdominal pain. Infants who experience this pain will pull their legs and cry, stop crying suddenly and repeat the same crying when they feel cramp again.
