Erectile Dysfunction - How Unani Remedies Help in Treating it

Erectile dysfunction is a physical disorder where an affected male develops the inability to have an erection during the intercourse. This inability to get an erection is termed as erectile dysfunction. It may be caused due to several circulatory reasons and may also occur from arsenic poisoning by drinking water. Organic conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular diseases also cause erectile dysfunction in men.

Unani medicine to treat erectile dysfunction

Unani or Unani Medicine, commonly known as Yunani Medicine in Arabic, Hindustani and Persian signifies ‘Greek Medicine’. It is a type of customary medicine broadly used in South Asia. It alludes to a custom of Graeco-Arabic medicine, it is the combination of teachings of Greek physician Hippocrates, and Roman physician Galen and has been formed into an elaborate medication system by Arab and Persian physicians. Unani medicine depends on the idea of the four humors: Phlegm (Balgham), Blood (Dam), Yellow bile and Black bile.

Unani medicines are considered to be very effective for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and the best Unani medicines for treating this condition are: L-Arginine, Propionyl-L-Carnitine, Gingko, Zinc, Ashwagandha and Yohimbe.

There are many different herbal medicines based on the Unani remedies for curing erectile dysfunction. They are commonly called herbal male enhancement products and are completely made from medicinal plants and herbs. These medicines are extensively used by males all over the world for enhancing sexual activity without any side effects.

Here are some common Unani medicines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction:

  1. Goli Wajid Shai: This is a vital tonic for enhancing the sexual organs. It helps in increasing the power of an erection. The ingredients present in this tablet help in the nourishment of the sexual organs. It also helps in increased production of semen, increases your lasting time and adds extra pleasure to your sex life. Taking one pill with milk, two hours before having an intercourse proves to be extremely helpful. This medicine can also be in case of premature ejaculation.

  2. Jauhar E Khusia: This medicine helps in increasing libido or sexual urge and also enhances your orgasms. General health benefits are also gained by using this medicine. You should intake 1 gram of this medicine with milk before having sex.

  3. Majoon Jalali: This is a tonic which acts as a very good sexual stimulant. It helps in increasing sperm count and enhancing orgasms. The central nerves responsible for sexual pleasure are stimulated by this medicine making the act enjoyable.

Erectile dysfunction not only hampers your sex life, but may also affect your overall relationship. It affects your self esteem and confidence. Therefore, using Unani medicines can help you treat erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation effectively. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Psychological and Medical Causes of Premature Ejaculation

The uncontrolled discharge either before or shortly after physical penetration is a common that affect a number of men. It happens with minimal sexual stimulation and before the person wishes and is a major cause of unsatisfactory sex for both partners. This can increase the anxiety that may add to the problem. It is one of the most common forms of male sexual dysfunction. It has probably affected every man at some point in his life.

What causes premature ejaculation?

Most cases of premature ejaculation do not have a clear cause. With sexual experience and age, men often learn to delay orgasm. Premature ejaculation may occur with a new partner. It may happen only in certain sexual situations or if it has been a long time since the last ejaculation.

Psychological factors

Most cases of PE are not related to any disease and are instead due to psychological factors, including:

  • Sexual inexperience
  • Novelty of a relationship
  • Overexcitement or too much stimulation
  • Relationship stress
  • Anxiety
  • Guilty feelings
  • Depression
  • Issues related to control and intimacy

Medical causes of premature ejaculation

Biological causes of PE are much less common than psychological ones. In rare cases, the cause can be more serious, such as nervous system damage as a result of surgery or physical trauma.

  • Diabetes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Prostate disease
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Thyroid problems
  • Illicit drug use
  • Excessive alcohol consumption

Symptoms of Premature Ejaculation-

The main symptom is an uncontrolled ejaculation either before or shortly after intercourse begins. Ejaculation occurs before the person wishes it, with minimal sexual stimulation.

How is it treated?

  • In many cases, premature ejaculation gets better on its own over time. Treatment may not be needed. Practicing relaxation techniques or using distraction methods may help you delay ejaculation. For some men, stopping or cutting down on the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs may improve how well they can control ejaculation.
  • Antidepressant medicines are sometimes used to treat premature ejaculation.
  • There are also creams, gels, and a spray that may be used to treat premature ejaculation by reducing sensation. These medicines are applied to the penis before sex. But some of these medicines can also affect a man's sex partner by reducing sensation for the partner.

In Allopathic Medicine, no satisfactory treatment is available till date. On the other hand Unani /Ayurvedic herbal medicine have an excellent role for the treatment of premature ejaculation. Such herbal medicine not only treat the premature ejaculation, but also increase the sex drive as well as patient sexual satisfaction. Always consult a practitioner before going for any treatment.

Hair loss: Causes and Herbal treatment in India

Hair loss: Causes and Herbal treatment in India

Causes
A sudden physical or emotional stress may cause one-half to three-quarters of the hair throughout your scalp to shed (called telogen effluvium). You will notice hair coming out in handfuls while you shampoo, comb, or run your hands through your hair. You may not notice this for weeks to months after the episode of stress. The hair shedding will decrease over 6 - 8 months.
Cause of this type of hair loss are:
High fever or severe infection
Childbirth
Major surgery, major illness, sudden blood loss
Severe emotional stress
Crash diets, especially those that do not contain enough protein
A number of medications, including retinoids, birth control pills, beta-blockers, certain antidepressants, NSAIDs (including ibuprofen) and calcium channel blockers
Some women ages 30 - 60 may notice a thinning of the hair that affects the entire scalp. The hair loss may be heavier at first, and then gradually slow or stop. There is no known cause for this type of hair loss.
Other possible causes of hair loss, especially if it is in an unusual pattern, include:
Alopecia areata -- bald patches that develop on the scalp, beard, and, possibly, eyebrows. Eyelashes may fall out as well.
Anemia
Autoimmune conditions such as lupus
Burns
Certain infectious diseases such as syphilis
Excessive shampooing and blow-drying
Hormone changes
Thyroid diseases
Nervous habits such as continual hair pulling or scalp rubbing
Radiation therapy
Tinea capitis (ringworm of the scalp)
Tumor of the ovary or adrenal glands

Home care

For hair loss due to illness (such as fever), radiation therapy, medication use, or other causes, no treatment is necessary. The hair will usually grow back when the illness has ended or the therapy is finished. You may want to wear a wig, hat, or other covering until the hair grows back.
Hair weaves, hair pieces, or changes of hair style may disguise hair loss. This is generally the least expensive and safest approach to hair loss. Hair pieces should not be sutured to the scalp because of the risk of scars and infection.

6 Daily Detox Habits

6 Daily Detox Habits

1: Drink hot water with lemon: make a cup of hot water with fresh lemon juice part of your morning ritual. As you hydrate with h2o, the lemon works to balance your body's ph and aid in healthy digestion.
2: Sweat it out: beyond weight-loss goals, a quick cardio session at the gym builds the sweat, which helps your body eliminate toxins. If you have access to a sauna or steam room at the gym, even better! a little extra time in these facilities after a solid workout will help you sweat, detox, and purify your body double time.
3: Eat more produce: keeping your diet consistently clean and full of natural, unprocessed foods is one of the most effective ways to detox every day - and a clean diet is full of fresh veggies and fruits. Be sure to incorporate detoxifying produce that supports healthy liver and kidney function like cabbage, beets, and leafy greens.
4: Try yoga twists: yogi superstar tara stiles puts it best ' twists just get things moving' your digestive system and all your internal organs reap benefits from twisting postures that put your body in positions it's not used to. Build your own internal heat with a detoxifying yoga sequence full of twists and strength-building postures.
5: Cook at home: eating out at restaurants should be an occasional treat - not an everyday occurrence. Cook at home to have complete control of the healthy ingredients going into your meal. You never know what restaurants toss into the mix with flavor - not health - in mind. Check out these detox recipes for kitchen inspiration.
6: Sip on green tea: overstimulating with loads of coffee can leave you feeling anxious and unfocused, so swap out your second cup of joe for antioxidant-rich green tea. It's high in catechins, which speed up liver activity and increase the production of detoxification enzymes.

Fever

Fever

A fever is a temporary increase in your body temperature, often due to an illness. Having a fever is a sign that something out of the ordinary is going on in your body.

Fever or elevated body temperature might be caused by:

  • A virus
  • A bacterial infection
  • Heat exhaustion
  • Extreme sunburn
  • Certain inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis - inflammation of the lining of your joints (synovium)
  • A malignant tumor
  • Some medications, such as antibiotics and drugs used to treat high blood pressure or seizures
  • Some immunizations, such as the diphtheria, tetanus and acellular pertussis (dtap) or pneumococcal vaccine

Lifestyle and home remedies

You can try a number of things to make yourself or your child more comfortable during a fever:

  • Drink plenty of fluids. Fever can cause fluid loss and dehydration, so drink water, juices or broth. For a child under age 1, use an oral rehydration solution such as pedialyte. These solutions contain water and salts proportioned to replenish fluids and electrolytes. Pedialyte ice pops also are available.
  • Rest. You need rest to recover, and activity can raise your body temperature.
  • Stay cool. Dress in light clothing, keep the room temperature cool and sleep with only a sheet or light blanket.

Prevention

You may be able to prevent fevers by reducing exposure to infectious diseases. Here are some tips that can help:

  • Wash your hands often and teach your children to do the same, especially before eating, after using the toilet, after spending time in a crowd or around someone who's sick, after petting animals, and during travel on public transportation.
  • Show your children how to wash their hands thoroughly, covering both the front and back of each hand with soap and rinsing completely under running water.
  • Carry moist towelettes or hand sanitizer with you for times when you don't have access to soap and water.
  • Try to avoid touching your nose, mouth or eyes, as these are the main ways that viruses and bacteria can enter your body and cause infection.
  • Cover your mouth when you cough and your nose when you sneeze and teach your children to do likewise. Whenever possible, turn away from others when coughing or sneezing to avoid passing germs along to them.
  • Avoid sharing cups, water bottles and utensils with your child or children.

Lifestyle and home remedies of sun stroke or Heat stroke

If you notice signs of heat-related illness, lower your body temperature and prevent your condition from progressing to heatstroke. In a lesser heat emergency, such as heat cramps or heat exhaustion, the following steps may lower your body temperature:

Get to a shady or air-conditioned place. If you don't have air conditioning at home, go someplace with air conditioning, such as the mall, movie theater or public library.

Cool off with damp sheets and a fan. If you're with someone who's experiencing heat-related symptoms, cool the person by covering him or her with damp sheets or by spraying with cool water. Direct air onto the person with a fan.

Take a cool shower or bath. If you're outdoors and not near shelter, soaking in a cool pond or stream can help bring your temperature down.

Rehydrate. Drink plenty of fluids. Also, because you lose salt through sweating, you can replenish salt and water with some sports drinks. If your doctor has restricted your fluid or salt intake, check with him or her to see how much you should drink and whether you should replace salt.

Don't drink sugary or alcoholic beverages to rehydrate. These drinks may interfere with your body's ability to control your temperature. Also, very cold drinks can cause stomach cramps

Treatment options for heat stroke

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you see somebody with heat stroke call for an ambulance straight away.

Move the patient to a cool place, preferably air-conditioned. If one is not available, go to a shady area.

Make sure the place is ventilated. Use a fan or open the windows (don't open windows if it is air-conditioned).

Try to get them to drink water.

Do not give any painkilling medications, such as ibuprofen, aspirin or acetaminophen (paracetamol, Tylenol).

If you can, place them in a cool (not cold) shower.

If there is one, partly fill a bath tub with cool (not cold) water, sit the person in there and hydrate their skin. Do not fully immerse the person in the water until the paramedics arrive.

To encourage blood circulation, gently massage their skin.

If the person has a seizure, do not place anything in their mouth. Move nearby objects out of the way.

If they are unconscious, place them in the recovery position. If they have vomited, make sure there is no blockage that may affect breathing.

Bone health: Tips to keep your bones strong and Healthy

Our bones are continuously changing ? new bone is made and old bone is broken down. When you're young, your body makes new bone faster than it breaks down old bone, and your bone mass increases. Most people reach their peak bone mass around age 30. After that, bone remodeling continues, but you lose slightly more bone mass than you gain.

Include plenty of calcium in your diet.
For adults ages 19 to 50 and men ages 51 to 70, the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) is 1,000 milligrams (mg) of calcium a day. The recommendation increases to 1,200 mg a day for women after age 50 and for men after age 70. Good sources of calcium include dairy products, almonds, broccoli, kale, canned salmon with bones, sardines and soy products.

Pay attention to vitamin D.
Your body needs vitamin D to absorb calcium. For adults ages 19 to 70, the RDA of vitamin D is 600 international units (IUs) a day. The recommendation increases to 800 IUs a day for adults age 71 and older. Good sources of vitamin D include oily fish, egg yolks and fortified milk. Sunlight also contributes to the body's production of vitamin D.

Include physical activity in your daily routine. Weight-bearing exercises, such as walking, jogging, tennis and climbing stairs, can help you build strong bones and slow bone loss.

My daughter is 18 yrs old (will be 19 yrs in May 2015). She is a 1st year MBBS student in a college in Karnataka and lives in the hostel. There has been an outbreak of hepatitis / jaundice in her college and almost 20 % of the students in the hostel have got the disease. As a child my daughter was given the correct schedule of immunization against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. Should we give her a booster dose now? Some doctors say that if she has been immunized properly, she should be safe and giving a booster is not advised. However, other doctors suggest a booster dose. I am confused. From my side, I have advised her to buy mineral water and then boil it and drink. Please advise.

ARCD in Critical Care, PG Dip in Emergency Medicine, MD - Community Medicine
Unani Specialist, Delhi
There is no need for boosters in immunologically potent persons as long as a full course was adequately administered that respected the recommended timelines. However, a booster dose should be planed for immunocompromised patients, based on serological monitoring. Booster doses should be given when antibody titers decrease to less than 10 million international units/mL. Thanks Dr. Waqar Anwer

The prostate is a small gland found only in men, located in the pelvis, between the penis and bladder. It's involved in the production of semen. If the prostate becomes enlarged, it can place pressure on the bladder and urethra (the tube through which urine passes). This can affect how you pass urine and may cause: difficulty starting urination, a frequent need to urinate, difficulty fully emptying the bladder You may opt for Unani medicine that is time tested remedy for chronic disease.

Back pain Symptoms

Muscle ache
Shooting or stabbing pain
Pain that radiates down your leg

Contact a doctor if your back pain:

Is constant or intense, especially at night or when you lie down
Spreads down one or both legs, especially if the pain extends below the knee
Causes weakness, numbness or tingling in one or both leg

Lower Back Pain Treatment:

Ceasing activity for a few days allows injured tissue and even nerve roots to begin to heal, which in turn will help relieve lower back pain

Heat and Ice Packs help relieve most types of low back pain by reducing inflammation. Often patients use ice, but some prefer heat. Both may be used alternately

Your family Physician will be able to give you advice about the most appropriate type of medication for you.
