There has been a tremendous development in the field of Orthodontics in the recent years, that people up to the age of 50 are using braces to correct the alignment of the teeth. There is a large difference between the adult and the teen orthodontic treatment. The dentist, based on the age, the strength of the teeth and various other factors, decides the course of treatment. Adults have age related considerations and limitations such as insufficient bone between the roots and bones getting harder due to age. It is difficult for the adults to get used to the braces and takes a longer time than the teens. This is known as biomechanical limitations. For teens it is a straightforward method, the dentist will remove the extra tooth, which is not in order if it's inside, and slightly twist the teeth if it is not properly set in the front arch. For adults, some of the teeth would have been removed and hence dentist will have to work on it and then fix the denture. Usually the braces are fixed with the tooth and jawbones and with the help of dental cement. It is imperative that once the braces are worn, a strict and regimental process should be followed to keep the oral hygiene at par and should be more careful in the initial days to avoid oral infections and follow the advise of the dentist carefully.
