Hello lybrate-user, From your symptoms it seems that you are suffering from oily scalp problem which leads to overgrowth of fungi on the scalp giving rise to dandruff problem which can get severe as well. Excess secretion of oil on the scalp has got to do with excessive functioning of male hormones which also makes your hair turn dry and frizzy. Using a right natural based shampoo which can help you get rid of the oiliness on the scalp will be a right measure and along with that taking right sups to take care of excessive functioning of your male hormones will be of great help. Do not be scared of shampooing regularly as it is a requirement of your scalp but also at the same time condition your hair as its required. Hope this helps:)

Hello lybrate-user, If you are consuming any tablet like Viagra or any other ayurvedic tablet to increase your sexual stamina then it surely is going to leave a mark on your body mechanism. I would advice you to stop taking any tablets for gaining sexual strength or vigour. Have plenty of fluids especially milk mixed with Khajur after sex to gain your list strength. But keep away from any medicines. For your pimples just wash your face regularly and let your body flush out the toxins on it's own. Give your body some time to get cured. If it doesn't get cured on it's own then you may require medicines to get rid of pimples. You can consult any doctor on Lybrate. I hope I have cleared your doubts. Tk care.

Hello lybrate-user, I can understand that more than the pimples its the scars marks left behind which are more concerning but don't worry there is a definite way of removing those but will require patience from your side. There are topical applications which can be used at night which will help you to get rid of those. Also you can take peels treatment from an expert cosmetic physician. Along with all this you can take nutritional anti-oxidant sups which will help you internally as well. Have lots of water, vegetables and fruits and stay away from oily and spicy food. Follow some form of exercise routine regularly. Also make sure that you take adequate steps for not getting more pimples or else it will get difficult for you to get free from scars as it will be an ongoing process. Hope this helps :)

Respected Sir, The numerous symptoms that you have mentioned could be due to the stress of your studies and exams. However they could also be due to various other medical/ neurological reasons. Hence I would suggest that you first get consultation from a Physician or Neurologist to rule out any physical causes for your symptoms. Now coming to the mental part, I would suggest that you keep a schedule or time table first and learn to manage your time. This is important as the memory loss could be due to overcrowding of your brain with many thoughts. Secondly, keep some daily for Exercises, yoga or atleast some basic relaxation exercises. These could not only help in improving your mental state but also help with your allergies. If the symptoms still persist and no physical cause is identified, I would suggest that you get in touch with a psychiatrist too to get yourself thoroughly evaluated and get the necessary treatment.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user. Acne (Pimples) are characteristic of adolescence in children with oily skin. It is a phase through which oily skin children have to pass through. Since they occur during teens so they usually last till late 20s. The pimple glands are present throughout ones skin. So its not possible to get skin grafting done. The person who said that there is something wrong with your digestive system is not a qualified person to deal with acne. As far as I know, there is no treatment for acne in Homeopathy and Ayurveda. Food is responsible for acne but food is not the only culprit. The fact is. You can control your acne (with procedures and medicines) but you cannot get rid of them (till late 20s). After that, they subside on their own. Stress is also responsible for them. Face the truth, be practical, visit a cosmetologist and keep them under control.

Hi lybrate-user What is your occupation? What happened 2 months back that caused the right forearm pain. Does the pain travel to your shoulder and neck? We need to find out the cause of pain to treat it completely. Please do basic neck and shoulder exercises (move neck up down left right and in circles. Move arms in cilced forwards and backwards) to relax your muscles in that area. What is Acne (Pimples)?

Acne is a very common skin disease that is characterised by the clogging of hair follicles of the skin with dead cells or oil produced from oil glands called ‘sebum’. It is a long-term skin disease and is seen to affect people who fall within the age group of 13-25.

They mostly occur on the face but it can also occur on the back, arms, neck, chest and shoulders. This can result in an uneven, bumpy appearance on the skin that may swell up and appear red. In severe cases, when the swelling subsides, it may leave a mark on the affected area.

What Causes Pimples?

The reasons behind pimples are not very clear although it is seen to be more prominent with teenagers and is more severe in boys as compared to girls.

But some factors that may cause acne are:

  1. Hormones: The levels of hormones called ‘androgens’ increase when someone hits teenage. Androgens cause the pores on the skin to enlarge and secrete more sebum. This causes the pores to get clogged, thus causing acne.

  2. Genetics: It is more likely for you to get pimples if your parents have had them in their childhood.

  3. Medications: Certain medications used to treat diseases such as epilepsy can result in acne.

How To Treat Acne?

It is usually recommended to consult a dermatologist who may give you several options such as-

Although it is generally a temporary condition, severe acne can leave a scar problem that can last a lifetime. A cosmetic dermatologist can provide a variety of procedures for acne scar removal or reduction.

Microdermabrasion, deep chemical peels, and laser skin resurfacing have all been shown to effectively reduce or eliminate acne scars. The right acne scar removal treatment for each patient depends on the degree of acne scarring, skin type, and other factors. A cosmetic dermatologist can recommend the procedure that is best for you. Some of the treatments are:

  1. Topical Ointments: Ointments are topical agents that are used on the surface of the skin or mucous membrane. Agents with Salicylic acid as an active ingredient can help in treating acne.

  2. Oral Prescriptions: Oral antibiotics such as clindamycin can be prescribed to you for treating your acne.

  3. Acne Surgery: It can be used to treat current acne conditions. It involves cleansing the skin and its pores of infections and excessive oil and clusters of dead cells.

  4. Skin Peeling Treatment: It is a very effective way of removing current pimples and scars that are left behind by the older ones. It basically removes the old, dead skin cells and encourages the growth of new ones. This must be done upon consulting your dermatologist.

Other measures that can be taken to control outbreaks include maintaining a healthy, junk-free diet.

Acne in Men: Causes and Treatments

Ask Free Question

Acne or acne vulgaris is a medical condition characterized by the appearance of an ugly and vulgar scourge on the face. Acne can cause scars, which are lifelong and can affect the self esteem and self-image of a person. Acne is more common in adolescents, but grown-up men too can suffer from acne. Acne in case of men is less severe, but still they are enough to spoil one's facial appearance.

Acne is caused because of several reasons, such as:

1. Overactive sebaceous glands: The trapped oil in the pores of the skin or follicles may result in blockage or blemishes. The sebaceous glands are responsible for creating oil, which helps in lubrication of the skin surface. Over secretion or overproduction of sebum from these glands may cause acne in men. Excess of oil stays in the pores, which blocks the sebaceous duct creating a follicle blockage. This causes acne.

2. Shedding of skin cells: The epidermis or topmost layer of the skin sheds dead skin cells and is replaced by new cells. When this process is hampered, extra skin cells are produced and the presence of lamellar granules in the skin gets lessened. This makes the skin prone to acne. More dead skin cells are produced, which are not shed properly and the cells remain stuck inside the follicles, which lead to acne.

3. Bacteria proliferation: A type of bacteria known as propionibacterium acne is found on the surface of the skin. When the propionibacterium acne grows out of control, acne are caused. Due to blockage caused by dead cells and excess oil, an anaerobic environment gets created and oxygen cannot pass through the pores.

Treatment

  1. Treatment of acne is done by keeping the pores open. This is done by using various skin cleansers for exfoliation of the skin and removing dead skin cells.
  2. Some medicines which are available over-the-counter stores can be used to treat acne. The peroxide and glycolic acid present in the medicines prevent the formation of blockages.
  3. Chemical Peels work by removing dead skin cells and encouraging new ones to grow, leading to a fresher, more glowing you. A chemical formula is applied to the skin that removes the top layer of skin and reveals the softer, smoother skin beneath.
  4. The procedure is used all over the world to treat skin problems such as wrinkles and lines, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, and sun damage - the results can be life-transforming.
  5. Several gels, lotions, pads and creams may help in exfoliation and cleansing of the skin. These products contain benzoyl peroxide, which helps in destroying bacteria responsible for triggering infection. They also contain Salicylic acid, which helps in unclogging of blockages.
  6. Several antibiotics can be consumed or rubbed on the surface of the skin for controlling bacterial growth. Certain vitamin A derivatives called retinoids also help in unclogging of the follicles. Some anti-inflammatory medicines can also treat acne.

Acne is a condition which is not just confined to teens and may occur in grown ups and adult males. Acne is irritating and must be eliminated using the various methods advised by your physician. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
