A vampire facelift is a cosmetic procedure where the facial tissues that get loosened overtime are surgically repositioned. It involves the utilization of the patient's own blood through a process known as Selphyl. A portion of the patient's blood is extracted from her arm and subjected to spinning in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red and white blood cells. The concentrated plasma, which is rich in platelets, is then injected into the face.

The basic vampire facelift treatment has been in use for almost 20 years. Earlier this treatment was known as Platelet Rich Plasma and was used as a medical procedure, rather than a cosmetic one, to treat burnt skin and accelerate the healing of wounds.
