It involves the utilization of the patient's own blood through a process known as Selphyl. A portion of the patient's blood is extracted from her arm and subjected to spinning in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red and white blood cells. The concentrated plasma, which is rich in platelets, is then injected into the face.

Compared to other cosmetic surgeries, a vampire facelift is painless. Other cosmetic surgeries involve cutting the skin. That would cause a lot of pain and would take time to recover. The facial incision that is required in vampire facelift is performed through injections and so the cut is microscopic. Also, the injection of the blood mixture causes no bruising as it is a thin watery fluid.
