lybrate-user ji, you are an educated lady. Do not you know that hormonal medicines (synthetic hormones) should be given only in dire conditions when no other simple way is available. My suggestion is that pcod is on rise due to diet imbalance, lack of activities and some other factors and in your young days simple commitment to yourself will change your life with herbs, millets, yoga instead of starting 21 day hormonal tabs and other hormones. Pl commit yourself if you want to get relief naturally. Book call. Do not let you fall prey to undesired drugs at this stage. Pl share reports or you may talk.

Hello, thanks f or the query I have seen the details mentioned. However, I would like to know the following: current t3, t4 & tsh levels (26 that you are mentioning is it tsh?) and if you have done anti tpo antibodies test please inform the details. Also it is better to look at your lipids (cholesterol levels). On seeing all the details I will be able to give correct advise. Another important aspect is levothyroxine tablet has to be always taken early morning on empty stomach and nothing should be taken for next 1 hour. This has to strictly followed. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Her tsh level is definitely lower than lab limit mentioned. Hence, it is better if dosage is reduced by 12.5 mcg to 112.5 mcg per day. Please remember after reducing the dosage (after every dosage change) there is need to check thyroid profile after 6 to 8 weeks to see if the desired change is achieved. In a well controlled patient tsh should remain around 2 to3 or 4 mu/l and t4 in normal range. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam I have seen the details. The tsh levels mentioned are definitely higher than what should be normally seen at your age. This is suggestive of sub-clinical hypothyroidism. In many cases of sub-clinical hypothyroidism no treatment is advised. However, if there are obvious symptoms of hypothyroidism seen like weight gain, irregular menstrual cycles, lethargy, feeling of tiredness, no interest in doing routine things, dry skin, muscle and joint pains and hair loss etc, then treatment is advised. Another important aspect is to check anti tpo antibodies, if that number is high then even with low rise in tsh can lead to clear hypothyroidism. So please come back with specific details if you are keen in getting a proper advise and/or treatment. It is better if you come back with all the details like height, weight, t3, t4 and anti tpo antibodies level and symptoms if any in a private conversation. Then I will be able to advise specifically and also prescribe the drug if required. Or else please contact your physician locally I hope things are clear. Thanks.

Hello, thanks for the query. Madam, I have seen the details mentioned. Tsh 5.9 mu/l means your hypothyroidism is not in control. Ideally tsh should be around 3 to 4 mu/l and t3 as well as t4 should be in the normal range (there is no mention of t3 & t4 levels). Please remember you can not or should not stop taking levothyroxine, that will make the condition still bad. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.
