Hi,Cleaning of your teeth is required only to prevent any further recession of gums. If cleaning is not done your gums will continue to recede. It cannot be rectified as it was earlier just by cleaning. If possible (which is determined by clinical evaluation and xray) it can be corrected by minor surgical procedures. Consult if you have any other queries.

If gum recession is less then it can be treated with cleaning only otherwise you require gum surgery.
