I always feel like I have just finished a running exercise and my heart beat and my breathing rate is not normal. What steps can be taken to reduce this.

Never be in haste to reduce weight. If running is stressful why don't you try half an hour cycling and walk in morning. Keep watch on your weight. you can Do simple exercises. P.S : I am advising you on the basis of your height and weight.
