. My four and a half years old son is suffering from typhoid and his Widal test shows a titre of 1: 80. He also has fever. I would like to know if this result is too high or low. How long will it take for him to get well? What diet he should take? Do I have to keep my 10 months old younger son away from him? Can he travel while suffering from typhoid?

Typhoid fever is nowadays easily treated by oral medicines. Donot panic. Consult any good general physician or consultant physician urgently. Yes, titre of 1: 80 in widal test is significant for any antigen as typhoid or paratyphoid. Diet for typhoid fever should be normal soft or semisolid low fat, low spice diet. Avoid long distance journey untill complete recovery. Wash your hands every time with antiseptic lotions before consuming foods. You should also be aware about healthy fresh water intake. Boil water than let it cool down, for drinking purpose. Hope you recover very soon. Uncomplicated Typhoid fever is usually cureable by 2 weeks. When fever subsides and antibiotic regimen is complete, check for blood for Typhi dot antigen.

1: 80 tire is not To be worried - in fact it is normal titre by some Labs. Repeat rising titre is the confirmation of Typhoid fever. If your child is Vaccinated for Typhoid fever than this tire is normal - only conformatory REPORT is blood culture. Get PROPER ANTIBIOTIC course, and than give vaccine for prevention.
