Hi Eating too much sugar causes diabetes is a MYTH. Eating too much sugar causes obesity which increases the risk of diabetes is a FACT. Sugar is one of the factor that causes obesity. It is not the sweetness I'm it that causes diabetes but the carbohydrate count and the calories in it. There are many other factors that increases the risk of diabetes. Some of them are age, family history, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, certain medications, gestational diabetes. So diabetics can enjoy sweets but in moderation maintaining their blood sugar value.

Hi, Both the statements are true. A diabetic person should avoid sweets and sugar, as they will easily be absorbed and will instant rise the blood sugar levels. For a normal person: Too much of sugar will also be absorbed easily by the body, the excess sugar in the body will be converted to fats and stored in the body leading to weight gain. Weight gain is one of the major reason for diabetes. Hence limit your sugars. Regards,
