I was diagnosed higher level of uric acid (gout) so was told to take febustat 40 mg for 3-4 months now today my tests for uric acid have come normal from 7.6 to 4.8 as of today but lipid profiles have increased special SGOT and even cholesterol. Level 215 and Sgot 37.1.is it because of febustat .and what you I do is liv 52 tab a good option for 2/3 months or would suggest something else. But I have started resumed workouts and taking proteins shake coz have to build muscle for some project as I am into modelling so do not want to stop that .suggestion plzz.

Hello. I hope you were diagnosed as Gout (which means arthritis due to uric acid) and not just hyperuricemia (high uric acid levels in blood). These two conditions are not synonomous. One can have high uric acid levels (7-10 mg/dl) without having arthritis. In such cases treatment with drugs like febustat is not required. It is just called Asymptomatic hyperuricemia. So again important question is WHAT WERE YOUR SYMPTOMS? Now about febustat. It can cause transient elevation of liver enzymes. Your SGOT of 37 is normal. So do not worry. Liv52 not required. Diarrhea, dizziness and altered thyroid functions are other side effects. Lipid abnormalities are not due to febuxostat. You may be ahving metabolic syndrome which can have altered cholesterol profile, higher uric acid, deranged blood sugars, weight gain, high BP and so on. PLEASE MAKE SURE WHETHER YOU HAVE GOUT BY SEEING A RHEUMATOLOGIST.
