Im diabetic. I was put on insulin since I was and during lactation but now I wld like to switch to oral medicine as im not feeding the baby. Im taking humalog 25.8 units in the morning and 6 in the night and sugar levels are normal with fasting below 110 and PP below 130.

Hi There are many Diabetic oral medications that can be started for you but certain patient details like BMI, Recent blood tests are required to decide on that. However stopping insulin all of a sudden is not recommended, we can taper the insulin dose slowly and then stop it depending on your diabetes control.

Insulin is always better, Oral antidiabetics have much more side effects. On liver, kidney, etc.
