The doctor seems to have given an advise which does not seem to be in accordance with medical literature. A person whould have optimal Body Mass Index according to the height. When weight loss occurs in depression and anxiety, it needs to be evaluated for the cause, and addressed accordingly and not a generalized statement as this. All the best.
