Hi i am Suffering from stabbing pain in rectum since last 6 yrs. It generally starts with menstruation but lasts upto 15th day. Painful urination and painful defecation. Previously drs suspected it as endometriosis. After the diagnostic tests Dr. s said its not endometriosis. laparoscopy done twice, mri scan done thrice and colonoscopy also. Nothing has detected. But still am suffering from the pain. It made my life miserable. Pls help me.

Dear lybrate-user. Its a part of peri menstrual symptoms. It can be severe in few patients. Its good that all your tests have come normal. Hence you have no organic cause. You need to avoid stress, go for regular walks and yoga. Plus during periods you need to take NSAIDs for symptomatic relief for few days.

Although your investigations are negative I would still suggest that you get injections to suppress your ovarian function to see if you get any relief. This way we will be very sure whether the problem is Gynaecological in origin.
