Are phychiartists good enough to cure depression? Or they just waste money? Are psychiatrist drugs trauma free?

There is no doubt that psychiatrists are good enough to treat depression. If you have seen someone not improving on improving on drugs then there can be mutiple reasons. Like lack of proper diagnosis, lack of apporopriate and adequate medications, presence of other medical or psychiatric illness, substance use, or presence of resistant depression. Thanks.

Dear Suraj, Psychiatrists are medical doctors who have studied the mind and brain, brain chemicals like serotonin causing depression and developed drugs like antidepressants acting on various neurochemicals. They also know the dose, the effect and the side effect of drugs through many randomized controlled trails of many drugs. If there is clinical depression (not English term depression) and if it is with moderate to severe symptoms, antidepressants' side effect does not matter much. In the last 2 decades more and more antidepressants are coming out with less and less side effects. So far, no antidepressants' side effect is traumatic - they are only a nuisance. Antidepressants are given free in government, CGHS, ESI hospitals and many camps free of cost.
