Hi this is for my Wife, since few months we noticed that sometimes while speaking, wrong words are pops out from her mouth e.g she want to say 'honey' and the word comes out as 'ghee' or 'thousand' comes out as hundred. It happens with words only not with sentences. Along with this recently she often complains about her headaches too. Please let me know if there is anything serious, what is a cause of it and what treatment should we go for?

Well words popping out irrelevantly can be part of many problems. The first possibility is it can be due to hypothyroidism (most common) which occurs usually due to impairment in concentration. The second possibility is it can be a part of tic disorder usually vocal tics. The third possibility can be migraine headache with aura. The other most common possibility to think of is stress /depression which can also produce these symptoms. Since she is having headache my opinion is to consult both a neurologist/ psychiatrist. Neuro imaging maybe needed for her. She needs detailed clinical evaluation for a clear diagnosis to be made. Lastly don't worry in most clients we come across the problem is very mild and treatable. Your wife can be treated. Be relaxed and consult the specialist.
