Brushing with salt or salt added toothpaste removes teeth plaque or not. Is salt helpful for teeth?

Hi lybrate-user, we should not directly apply salt on the teeth or gums as it can lead to staining and burning of gums, when taken in form of tooth paste it is ok, but it does not removes calculus. Removing plaque its helpful.

Using salt as such may harm teeth as its to abrasive but in tooth pastes it's well grounded and works as a astringent but has little effect on plaque tooth pastes n mouth wash with triclorosan tend to reduce plaque.

Yes brushing with any good paste removes plaque (food debris) but not calculus. Salt helps in case of swelling due to inflammation or infections.
