It could be possibly due to non usage of teeth set of that particular side.
many people tend to avoid chewing from either left or right side because they have or had pain in one particular teeth. Not chewing from that side leads to accumulation of plaque and tartar and hence gingivitis.
solution for it is
1. get that bothering teeth treated if pain.
2. If there is no pain, start chewing from both sides.
3. get teeth cleaning done and maintain oral hygiene

may be you are not brushing properly from that side start brushing properly two times a day with proper brushing technique.
