I have problem in my back my age is 44 after the consulting I got the MRI of LUMBOSACRAL SPINE IN REPORT "MRI examination performed for lumbosacral spine and images were obtained in axial and sagittal planes using echo T1 and T2W sequences. THE STUDY REVEALS STRAIGHTENING OF LUMBAR SPINE. Marginal osteophytes formation seen along the paradiscal margins of lumbar vertebrae. Type I end plate degenerative changes are seen at L4-L5 level. However visualized vertebra are normal in height, alignment and marrow signal intensity. All lumbar intervertebral discs expect L5-S1 show degenerative changes with L2-L3, L4-L5 and L5-S1 showing small right paracentral protrusion mildly compressing the thecal sac. No other significant disc bulge / herniation is seen. Distal dorsal cord and conus medullaris reveal normal intensity pattern. Pre/para spinal soft tissue planes appear normal. Hi Report of MRI shows mild degenerative (Osteoarthritis) of spine with no significant anomalies which may require any surgery, as of now. It is manageable with spine extension exercises after learning under a trained physiotherapist, hot fomentation, application of Omnigel anti inflammatory gel, voveran sr 75 mg one tab after dinner fir 5 days. Avoid lifting heavy objects. I believe you don't get any reading pains to legs?(you haven't mentioned) so I presume you don't have neurological implications of thecal sac mild indentation by L3, 4,5 discs. If pain or backache aggravated by bending, a lower spine spinal brace (lumbo-sacral belt, brace) wearing in daytime, removing at night in bed. Your physiotherapist shall guide you adequately on exercises, sitting postures to suit the spine. In addition, have serum calcium, vitamin D3 levels, blood sugar, done for supportive treatment. MRI doesn't report osteoporotic changes any where, but these tests will evaluate these as often women do require supplements of calcium and vitamin D3 You're in premenopausal or menopausal age group, so screening for blood shall be additional help in treatment. Please report to your treating consultant orthopaedic surgeon for further evaluation and final guidance thanks best wishes.
