I have acute bronchitis and I live in Bangalore. Even when I sit indoors in AC in office, I tend to get very dry throat which leads to excessive coughing with some sputum (white). Can somebody explain why air conditioned environment leads to this tickling effect when there is no dust or pollen inside?

Air-conditioning can dry out your sinuses and nasal passage, leading to inflammation. Air conditioners as a part of the cooling process, actually does draw humidity out of the air, This is not its primary function, of course, but that does little to change the fact that dehumidification is an inherent part of the cooling cycle. Because of this, you risk drying out the air excessively when you are running your air conditioner nonstop. Hope this answers your query. Your feedback matters. Take care.
