Stopping workouts does not technically add to weight. However on a practical level, your mind and body is used to a certain diet which you tend to continue to take even after you leave exercising. Therefore you need to cut down the extra food when you stop exercising. That will balance out the calories. Despite this I will advise to do at least 20-30 mins of exercise daily. It will help you physically and mentally.
