You have reached a very important phase in your life: the late adolescent stage. You are going through the final phase of adolescence and these tensions you talk about are expected. During this time there will be a spurt in the production of the male sex hormone, testosterone, which has a duration of two years. Due to this chemical alone there are three identified features that present itself over which you will have poor control: you will be sexually active, aggressive and rebellious, and you will have acne and pimple problems. Then if you have unresolved childhood issues, they will compound the situation and fuel uncontrolled behavior. Please remember that you may not be aware of all this. If by tension, you mean fear-related, then talk about that fear. If you don’t you will typically act angry and people will relate to your anger not realizing that you need help with the fear. Nothing gets resolved and now you have made others angry with your anger and you stand to lose their friendship. Exercise will channelize a lot of your energy and help you to deal with the situation better. Meditation will also help. Make sure you get good sleep, a minimum of 8 hours and do not exceed 9 hours. You will need social acceptance especially from your friends. If you are not faring well in that area, then at least develop one or two close friends with whom you can share feelings and other matters. The social acceptance includes having a boyfriend but do not get too close as in a romantic relationship now – you will get easily drawn in with the hormones not yet fully settled down. Talk to a counselor, if there are unresolved childhood issues. Normally, issues that have not been resolved in childhood for whatever reasons will actually recycle themselves seeking a resolution. So it is a good opportunity to meet a professional and resolve them now.
