I have delivered twin girl babies last month. One of my twin baby (birth weight 1.8 kgs and now 2.4 kgs) brings out saliva/ milk through her nose even after burping or 2 hrs after feeding or in mid of her sleep. Her body becomes stiff And eyes becomes watery when this happens. Is this normal?

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, You did not mention the exact age of the baby, but you did say last month, so, I am presuming that your baby is about a month old. The weight gain is pretty good and I must congratulate you on that. But the milk coming up, even through the nose, specially after burping can be tackled by positioning the baby properly. 1.After burping, 2. You need to put a pillow at the base of the head, neck and upper chest, so the baby's upper portion is lifted up and 3. Then turn the baby to one side, so that the left hand is on top. To maintain this position you need to put one more pillow at the back of the baby. 4. Recommend you position the baby in this "Left lateral position, head high" position as its called medically, for half an hour and then remove the pillows and let the baby sleep normally. 5. Also, recommend you wrap the babies properly and make sure he/she is kept warm. The basic issue is to let the stomach empty out the milk into the duodenum or small intestine as quickly as possibly, by this position. All the best and let me know, how it goes.

It is normal. increase burping time and slight sloping posture of head side raised may reduce regurgitation. get her checked for stiffness of body.
