I am 64 year old. Have arthritis of knees. My left knee is worse than right one. In the morning when I get up and stand it doesn't get straight at once. I have to struggle for some time. This happens after so get up after sitting for long too, like in a movie. How to handle this, pls. Help.

This is called 'gelling' of joint. You could try the following measures:- 1) Straighten & bend your knees intermittently when sitting or lying down for a long time 2) Straighten & bend your knees before getting out of bed in the morning 3) Apply some warm packs and pain-killer ointment to reduce any joint swelling & to loosen it Exercises, guided by a physiotherapist, would also help.
