Hello, drinking salt water is neither good nor bad for health. It is used to cleanse the system as drinking salt water interferes with water absorption in the body causing diarrhoea. So if you are using it to loose weight then I would ask you to stop using it as it does not have any benefits in the long run. It only reduces the fluids in the body which is harmful so concentrate on calorie to loose weight.

Per day requirement of salt is about 0.75 teaspoon. Anything above it will be harmful. Colon is nothing but Large intestine and our digestive system is efficient enough to push out waste products without any additional salt or such stuff. Yes, as a good habit for good digestion and expulsion of waste, its good to have lot of water and fibrous fruits and Veggies. Rest the body will take care.
