Hello there, for dry cough, take 2-2 teaspoonful of pranacharya kasantak by mixing it in hot water twice daily. Sitopaladi, praval and tankan bhasm churna taken with honey can also bring relief. Consume this 3 to 4 times a day for relief from dry cough; you can also drink tea with basil leaves or add ginger and black pepper in it. Salted hot water gargling also helps. And stay away from cold drinks and don't take milk when having cough.

Thank you for the query. I would need to ask you certain questions. Is there any associated fever or throat ache/irritation? Are you having a running nose? Since your cough is dry, and you are not having a fever, it may be an allergic cough. In that case simple steam inhalation thrice a day may help. You can go for anti-allergic tablets (like levocetirizine) or cough syrups with anti-allergic components. No need for any antibiotic therapy in this cough. If you are producing sputum or having associated fever, it may be a viral infection. A number of cough syrups with the specific composition are available. Drink plenty of water. Antibiotics are not effective in viral infection. If a cough persists for more than 1 week, some blood tests like total count/differential count, sputum examination and chest x-ray may be needed. If a bacterial infection is detected antibiotic will be needed. Regards.
