2 to 4 wks after infection some pt of HIv develop flu like illness with fever sore throat, chills, muscle pain, night sweats, swollen lymph nodes, rash etc. Thereafter pt can remains asymptomatic for 5 to 10 yrs. P t on retroviral therapy may remain asymptomatic lifelong. After that symptoms appear when HIV pt progress to aids. Symptoms like unexplained wt loss. Prolonged fever chronic diarrhoea opportunistic infections. Night sweats fatigue pink or purple blotches under skin or mucus membranes. Swollen lymph nodes. Altered sensorium ,depression.
