Sir/mam my mother is diabetic and she is passing black stools from last 1 month. And is not associated with other symptoms like pain and all. She is taking oral hypoglycemic drugs. Is it serious?

Black stools could be due to bleeding in the gut (gastro intestinal tract - like esophagus, stomach, intestines). It could also be due to medication like iron supplements. Oral hypoglycemic drugs do not necessarily cause black stools. I would advise you to consult a good gastroenterologist. She needs to have a thorough assessment and she may have a gastroscopy and colonoscopy and further investigations like CT scan etc to know the cause of the black stool. Thank you.
