Painkillers will only effect you on temporary basis. Along with that you need to do warm saline rinses 5-6 times in a day. This will be of some effect too. Final resort is extraction only.

Firat comsult a good dentist and identify if the wisdom tooth is really the source of pain. You have not mentioned nature of your pain which is very important to guide your treatment. If your pain is sharp shooting and electric shock like, in only a particular area of face, it could be neuralgic pain which is to be managed differently. Do not go for extraction so easily as a partly erupted tooth extraction is very difficult. For immediate relief you need to change your painkiller if the present one is not working. Also consult a pain specialist in your city if tooth is not source of pain.

Treatment of wisdom teeth will be based on whether the tooth has space to erupt fully or if it is blocked. If there is sufficient space then removal of the gum tissue (called operculectomy) along with antibiotics and proper oral hygiene maintenance will be sufficient If the tooth is blocked then extraction is the best treatment Consult a dentist and discuss about the treatment plan. Taking pain killer is not a permanent solution.

Wisdom teeth can erupt anywhere between the age of 17 years and the mid-20s. It is usually accompanied by pain, sensitivity, and discomfort in chewing food. The pain also may radiate to head, neck and ear. For transient relief, you can go for pain killers and any antibacterial mouthwash, to keep the area clean, which may be difficult to clean otherwise with a toothbrush. Permanent treatment usually involves either removal of the gum tissue covering the wisdom tooth (if it is present in your case), or extraction of the tooth. Extraction will not cause you any problem with eating food, and it doesn’t need to be replaced, unlike other teeth.
