Hi Mr. lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking guidance. Well, vaccinations like 'Gardasil' offer protection against cervical cancer. However, as far as I understand, it may offer protection against only a few of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) strains and not all. It probably is more suitable in places where organized cytology screening facilities are not available. I still would advise you to connect with her OB/ GYN who can recommend apropos and also inform rightly on its safety aspects. As an alternative to vaccinations, regular pap screening is known to be quite safe and cost effective in ensuring an early detection and management thereof. Additionally, education with regards to safe sexual behaviours goes a long way in preventing or reducing incidences of HPV infections. I declare no conflict of interest as I state the above-mentioned. Hope this helps. Do take care. Sincerely
