Uveitis can be a tricky eye condition to treat.. finding the underlying cause sometimes help choose the correct immunosuppresants. But Inspite of extensive testing, the underlying disease may be difficult to diagnose. It may become apparent in some years time. Macular edema is a result of chronic inflammation in the eye. For uveitis, long term immunosuppression becomes a necessity...u will need to choose one Inspite of he side effects. Sometimes intra or para ocular steroid injections are given. But these will treat only the eye and not the systemic effects the disease may or may not be having on different organs of ur body. The retina n uvea team at Icare is very competent...trust their judgement and continue treatment there.
