Hi lybrate-user, dental cavities once started can not be stopped so visit a dentist and better go for a restoration or if suggested root canal treatment. Dental check ups in every six months helps you in maintaining your oral health.

The only treatment for dental cavities is getting restored by dentist. If your cavity is shallow then he will remove caries and then fill with tooth colored material. If or is deep then root canal treatment is required. Also brush twice daily to maintain good hygiene.

Dental cavities are formed due to bacterial action on food sticking on your tooth surface. This bacterial action results in release of acid which leads to cavity formation. Best solution would be to get the infected portion removed and get it filled with a tooth filling material. You should visit your nearby dentist for cavity filling. There is no other at home treatment.
