Mr. Lybrate-user, usually for hyperthyroidism, anti thyroid medicines are given 18 months to 2 years and stopped. Some times thyroid function returns to normal. If not, if hyperthyroidism continues then other means of treatment are looked at. Which include taking radio active iodine or getting surgery done. There is no mention about medicine or the dosage of it in your query.
