Hi Doctor, I am gaining weight instead of maintaining a proper diet. I have opted for thyroid test and the value which has came is 5.79. I just wanted to confirm whether I have to take medications or it will end by maintaining proper diet and proper sleep. Please guide with your suggestion. Thank you.

Hello you need not worry. You need to understand the concept of weight loss. It's a gradual process that requires cut down in calories under the guidance of a dietitian and regular exercise. Your thyroid levels are on higher side. Take precautions for a month, do exercise, get it checked again. Avoid cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, soy and soy products. Don't skip breakfast. Sleep for 7-9 hours per night. Avoid fried foods, sweets, carbonated drinks and processed foods. Include whole grains, sprouts, seasonal fruits and vegetables. Take 3 main meals and 2 side meals. Drink plenty of water. Take flaxseed powder 1 tsp with lukewarm water on empty stomach. Snack on fruits and nuts. Thank you.
