Hello, birth control pills prevent ovulation and also make the cervical mucous incompatible for sperms to climb and hence prevent conception. They are available as otc in most countries.

Birth control pills change the concentration of hormones in the body which are required for conceiving and hence if a women is taking them regularly she said not conceive and you can get them over the counter with all the chemists everywhere.
