Should I drink water before meal or after meal and why? And I heard a rumor that after meal it is good to drink water as it helps in digestion. And if you drink before it kills your hunger. And I heard a one more rumor as well as drinking water after oily food cause highly bad effect to our health like acidity . My mom never allow me to drink water after eating oily food. Can you break these rumor. With strong reasons?

In ayurveda, there is mentioned in shastra that you should avoid water before food, and also after food. But for better digestion, you should take liquids (water is not compulsory) during diet. Also given ratio, that diet should be 50% solid, 25% liquids, 25% should remain empty of hunger. They give strong reasons, but for understand, you should have some base of ayurveda. Water before meal: decreasing digestion, subsides hunger. (use full in obesity) water during food: helps to convert food into semi-solid and easily digestable water after food: make more stickiness in stomach. Hence increase indigestion, increase kapha portions, increasing weight.
