Plenty of oral liquids predominantly water goes a long way in preventing stone formation. Water intake on an average should be about 2 to 2.5 liters a day, distributed uniformly throughout the day. One should take a balanced diet avoiding excess of any food elements and try not skipping or avoiding any food. Fluid intake - adequate quantity, distributed uniformly throughout the day aim - to keep urine output at least 1.5 litres per day. Type - predominantly water, followed by barley water or yoghurt. - freshly squeezed oranges or lemons, juices made from the same, green tea and wine. - completely avoid soft drinks / aerated drinks. - avoid other fruit juices; instead eat fruits. Adequate consumption of fruit and vegetable. Avoid excess of or skipping of any dietary element. Adequately treat any urinary infection.
