Hi, I am 24 years old male. I have been suffering from vitiligo for the last 8 years. I had a small patch near my nose and it started spreading on my left cheek. Later it got stable and the point it started got disappeared. Now I have an inch size white patch stable for the last 6 years between my left cheek and chin. It has neither increased nor decreased in size for 6 years. I have stopped taking any medicines in these years so far. But I am worried now . Is there any treatment to cure it? Heard vitiligo is incurable and can only be arrested from spreading. I am very much worried after knowing this. Is there any real time working solution to gain back my pigment ? please help.

Hello, hi lybrate-user, vitiligo is a genetic disorder trigger by indigestion and stressful conditions. The patches on face, legs, arms, elbows, chest with hair on it remain black can be treated through medicines. No doubt there are some patches which are difficult to treat like on lips, fingertips, feet and where the hair color has changed to white. Vitiligo is an autoimmune disease and has no definite treatment and cure but it is a manageable disease and can be managed by using ayurvedic treatment internally and externally. Ayurvedic herbal medicines are used to purify blood and stop the spread of disease and external application are capable of quickly start regimentation. Extra use of haldi and vit. C, brinjal, red meat, fish, alcohol should be avoided in vitiligo.
